Lopez, who stole his first two bases in the Cactus League on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch, didn't want to put a number on how many he can steal this season, but he sounds as if he plans to be run more often than last season, which he split between Washington and St. Louis.
He stole 44 bases with Cincinnati in 2006 and 24 in 2007 with Washington but attempted just eight steals in 100 games last season with the Nationals. He was asked why he wasn't more aggressive in Washington.

"There were a lot of things not aggressive when I was in Washington," he said. "That's in the past. I'm here. Kirk is a great teacher. He knows a lot. He studies the pitchers a lot. He gets a lot of information. That's going to benefit me to use my speed."

Lopez stole second base twice in the first three innings against Thursday.

Josh Whitesell's numbers this Spring with Arizona:

.326 BA, 2 Doubles, 3 HRs, 12 RBIs, 12 Runs, 9 BBs, 16 Ks (46 ABs)

He is leading the team in Homers and RBIs this Spring but they are unsure if he is giong to make the big league team because he is behind the likes of Chad Tracy, Conor Jackson, and Tony Clark.

2 out of the 3 of those guys really suck. Arizona doesn't like winning.
