Capps is a far worse version of Chad Cordero. Straight 90 mph fastball and a weak breaking ball.

incomprehensible. all time franchise low. season is doomed 3 weeks before it even starts.

I'm pissed off too, but you can't say that. If we lose our first 7 REAL games, THEN the crap needs to hit the fan.

Sven? I was thinking thr first two.

all time franchise low.

Not even close.

season is doomed 3 weeks before it even starts.

Perhaps doomed from the start, but not because of Spring Training.

it'll be too late then. crap should be hitting the fan now rather than Dunn, Riggleman, and others just acting like this is no big deal.

Do they realize how hard it is to go 0-11 to start ST? I feel that our defense has been surprisingly decent but it hasn't even made a difference because the pitching and offense have been so bad.

Or, as Rob Neyer I think pointed out, how'd you like to be the minor league manager who either injures him or messes him up?

Lincecum was up 5/6 the year after he was drafted (which is why he was a super two).  Porcello was drafted out of high school and is still younger than Strasburg after a year in the majors.

I guess if his stuff says he's ready, they might be better off in terms of conditioning, facilities and coaching in the majors.  But I'm repeating myself.

BTW- you could start him 4/3 in the exhibiition, throw him 4/8 at potomac, 4/13 for harrisburg at Bowie, and he'd not have to leave the area.  He'd be available the first time we need a 5th starter at home, and it would be inside 172 days left in the season.

The only problem with your plan is that Strasburg would be a Super 2 in that scenario.
