P-Nats Big Announcement?
« Topic Start: January 29, 2010, 01:04:34 PM »
Just got this via e-mail:

Quote
Big Announcement Coming Sunday
P-Nats to unveil their newest addition

The Potomac Nationals are preparing to make an announcement regarding their newest addition Sunday at the 15th-annual Hot Stove Banquet and Silent Auction at the Hyatt Fair Lakes in Fairfax, Virginia. The event is scheduled to run from 5:30-9 p.m.

Don't miss this opportunity to be on hand for the big announcement. Media wishing to cover the event should contact Tripp Miller, director of media relations, at 703-590-2311 or tmiller@potomacnationals.com to RSVP. Fans who can't make it to the banquet should check PotomacNationals.com Monday morning to hear the big news.

The silent auction and cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and program featuring keynote speaker Mike Rizzo, General Manager of the Washington Nationals. The P-Nats will also welcome Manager Gary Cathcart, Assistant Director of Player Development Mark Scialabba and Director of Player Development Doug Harris.

In addition to the big announcement, the club will be presenting the annual Terry Sullivan Fan of the Year, the P-Nats Player of the Year, Employee of the Year and the Prince William County High School Baseball and Softball Players of the Year awards.

Every year, the Potomac Nationals receive donations for the silent auction from Minor League and Major League Baseball teams, NFL, NBA, NHL and MLS organizations and various Potomac Nationals sponsors. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Prince William County Public Schools Education Foundation.

Opening Day at The Pfitz is set for April 8, when the Potomac Nationals host the Salem Red Sox. P-Nats season tickets and mini-plans are available now, so call 703-590-2311 to order yours today!

I was gonna guess something like that too.  I don't think the PNats would get to make that announcement, especially since there's a chance he could make the club out of ST.

They are supposed to unveil an "addition".

Could the stadium be an addition?

Anyway, I hope they move to Loudoun. It would be great news for me.

Didn't the Atlantic League just get approval to build a stadium near Dulles?

The P-Nats programs have had a design for a new stadium for a while now (http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/ballpark/page.jsp?ymd=20070117&content_id=155384&vkey=ballpark_t436&fext=.jsp&sid=t436), but I can't imagine they have the funds to move forward.

Yes. Two stadiums got approved. The second one is supposedly for the P-Nats. I posted it in the "Following the Minor League Teams" thread a couple weeks ago because I couldn't figure out if it was being discussed somewhere.

It seems like a silly idea to put two teams in Loudoun, but what do I know. :-)

I thought there's a home plate to home plate minimum of circa 30 miles. Looking for the rule, but I wonder about Potomac and Nationals Park as it is . . .

This seems interesting:

How the heck does Loudon afford 2 stadiums?  I never want to hear another [comment] from them about their budget problems.  And this is with a "taxpayer" oriented board of supervisers.

I wouldn't have commented except it was right after your Batista / Bautista observation.  On this we both agree, let's get those u's right!
