Wow! Great story. Great to see the team react like that. Thanks for posting.

My pleasure ... isn't it a great story?

Astacio threw way too many balls, that inning.

The pitch location graph of those 4 pitches to Church is almost a straight line, up and down.

And Jackson is out on the first pitch, directly after a 4-pitch walk!!!

Church still gets fooled on curves in the dirt with alarming frequency, but he is drawing walks at a decent clip since coming up.  I still don't think he can tell the difference, but he must decide ahead of time he just isn't going to swing at some pitches.

Seems to be helping.

I agree.  He is a sucker for the curve in the dirt, but he has drawn some walks like you said and he gets some extra base hits.

Maybe it's the strike zone?  Because their pitcher seems to be throwing a lot of balls too.

He's going to walk Soriano, with an open base.

Right now, I don't think Lowry has the control to throw a pitch that Soriano can hit.

You must not be watching the game.  He loafed down to first and was out by a flinch.  If he had ran the whole way, he would have been easily safe because the pitcher dropped the ball.
