Yea, I'm not going to Marlyand for pizza. Not even if Scarlett Johanasson were going to let me eat it off her naked body.

Where's a good place in Northern Virginia? Fairfax?

Also, whats good to mix in for frying pork chops? A little salt and pepper but I feel like I want something else.

i think there's a thread on pizza already, but being a new yorker, IMHO the best pizza place in NoVa is Buon Appetito in Chantilly in the strip shopping center between K-Mart and Baby's R Us.   Tony's is good, as is Pizza NY Margarita in Gainesville.  Santini's in Oakton is pretty good, Luciano's in Tysons, Herndon, and Oakton was my favorite pizza place until I found Buon.

Buon is in a class all its own, and the rest of the menu is absolutely fantastic as well.  There's a 2nd location on Old Ox behind Dulles airport hidden in an industrial park.  The owners are Italian immigrants, very nice people.

Cafe Pizzaiolo and its spin offs.  They just opened in cameron run, the are at Fairlington, and the original location is in Crystal City at 23d and Eads (just off Rte 1).  they do NY style and Neapolitan.

I've not tried Petes yet, so I can't say if they have New Haven style right, but I trust the Cat and the Frau.

I used to love the beer delivery, Tuto had the best pizza on 23rd before they went under

Good intel.  I will add that Santini's subs (like the steak and cheese, for example) are excellent.  And, there is a new Santini's in Chantilly.

Santini's has a great vegetarian sub. Love that place.

I could do without all the NY stuff on their walls, though.

yup.  it's been there forever.  they have a lot of options around there, but they managed to fight off the competition.  subs are top of the line, the pizza is soooooooooo underrated (ask CMD, our family does nats tailgates with their pizza) and the food is authentic Italian.

i currently have Ropa Vieja cooking in the crock pot.  Yeah I know it's not the ideal way to make it, but I had to work today.

here's the recipe, the house smells very good:

(check out the first comment, I LOL'd).  I'm going to make the black beans and rice in a minute.  Forgot to buy plantains.

i can't imagine going through the trouble for this one.
