hahahaha

I'm serious.  He gives up so many big flyballs, they would be routine outs in RFK.

I wouldn't mind playing in a park with RFK's dimensions considering our bad pitching staff.

the hitters we have now generally have no problem hitting the ball out if they get solid contact unlike in '05 when we had mostly bums who always complained about the dimensions because they were wusses and couldn't hit.

there is no way the current version of livan is better than the current j.d. martin.

8.0 IP, 3 R
7.1 IP, 2 R

^^  As far as I know, Martin has never done that.

The more bad swings Orr takes the more playing time he gets.

i know you like these type of stats:
Martin has given up 3 earned runs or fewer in 7 out of 10 starts.

but seriously he has a 4.45 ERA. not bad for a #5 pitcher. he's not good by any means but I would much rather have him as a #5 starter over livan.

Livan's ERA is 4.44 since joining the Nats.

I'm not really going to advocate using either one right now (still plenty of baseball to be played between now and next April), but there isn't some huge disparity between the two of them.

That'd be a nice stat if half of those starts weren't 2, 4, or 5 IP :?

Sure there is:

Martin has uselessly short flashes of brilliance with an occasional quality start, and an occasional crapper.

Livan has serviceable outings with an occasional great outing and a crapper every 3rd or 4th game.

Both equate to the same end result: overall mediocrity.

in SF's mind, it is a fact that Martin went 8 2/3 in each of those outings.

If all you're looking at is their ERA, sure.  If you can't see beyond that, then I've said all I have to say.

Livan and Martin have given the Nats chances to win some games. In the end it boils down to the rest of the team.
