Like I said, I'd love to see either of you swing at that pitch.  Got money says you wouldn't, or you'd miss wildly.  Result for Dunn would've probably been the same if he had swung, so why not take a chance on getting the walk, especially if he thinks it might not go in for a strike?

It was only 2 balls.  It wasn't a full count.

Are there any doubts that the Hammer is our long-term solution at left?
I hope not, I saw a Willingham jersey in the team store yesterday and am thinking about buying it.

I actually used Brad Lidge this week on my fantasy team because I expected the Pirates to be, well, the Pirates.

Yeah but he got that pitch twice.  You don't get his stats without knowing what you can and can't hit.

I don't know what you mean by long term. we only got him for 2 more years beyond this one. he is definitely going to be the guy for the next two seasons most likely.

he'll be nearly 33 once he is a FA. don't know if we will want to re-sign him then. maybe, maybe not. long time away.

You know the best thing about beating the Cubs...Mike Wilbon.

Everything he ever says/writes about the Nationals is said/written with a snark.

For all the nagging and moaning we give Manny/Riggs, Charlie Manuel is a moron. He continues to put Lidge out there night and night again. They are in a playoff hunt, and we're not. I can't understand why he hasn't made a switch yet. I think tonight is the last straw.

Exactly. It was two strikes. He knows he can't hit that. And he knows it is starting inside. If he swings, he misses on what could be an inside pitch (which with his OBP is what most throw him.) If he takes, he has a shot. It was simply a great pitch.

I wasn't expecting much. just a little ground ball to the right to advance the runner.

I've never seen posts where you nag about Zimmerman failing to advance a runner.  :lmao:

a series win or sweep would be better.

usually after winning a game like this the Nats will blow the next two games to lose the series and then get swept in St. Louis over the weekend.

No big deal. Pitcher has to be aggressive with two outs. Challenge the hitter. Better than wasting pitches and walking a guy.
