Atlanta and Tampa suck. Florida is average/mediocre. Carolina, who knows, but they look like crap.

Looks like Philly and Washington will be the class of the Eastern Conference although yes it is still early.

A win is a win. Caps stunk it up in the 3rd, but it's early and they're only going to get better. I really like the new additions to the team this year. SE Division will definately be interesting this year.

that's a good idea to do. hockey is really easy to pick up and going to a live game at VC is a great experience.

It's a lot better live. Much more exciting, and you don't really need to know what's going on.

PA is right. You'll fall in love with it once you see it in person. It shouldn't take you more than a period to figure things out. Icing and offsides are probably the hardest things to learn, but you shouldn't have any problems if you have someone to explain them to you. Once you get those down, the rest is easy.

Icing: Shooting the puck past the other team's goal line while on your defensive half. The other team has to be the first to touch the puck in order for the infraction to be called. Also, the infraction can be waived off if it goes through the blue goal crease or the officials feel the other team (except for the goalie) could have touched the puck before it reached their goal line

Offsides: The puck has to go into the offensive zone (over the blue line) before any attackers can enter the zone and touch it.  Once the puck is in the zone and the offense is attacking, if it comes out of the zone, all the offense has to come back out of the zone and the puck has to go back in before the offense can go back in and touch it.

Those are really the only WTF causing moments where is seems play was stopped for no reason. Other penalties are somewhat obvious.

Lots of cheap tickets this year on stubhub and craigslist, because tons of season tickets were sold and few can make it to all games. Stubhub is kind of a rip though because you have to pay $15 for shipping.  Best value is probably the lower letter rows in the upper deck.  Seems like there is a lot for sale in rows M and up. Shoot for something below H in like 403 through 412. The Caps shoot twice on that side (as opposed to once) so you should see more Caps goals scored.  Or you could sit along the side, but they might cost more.

It's not that complex. Just watch for #8 to do something awesome

I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel lucky as hell to be able to watch a player like Ovechkin in person. Players with his kind of talent are rare. If you haven't seen him play in person yet, get your ass out there and see him live. You won't regret it.

I bought a Hat Trick Pack - 3 games at cost no service fees earlier this year.  I bought a set of 2 tickets.  They are in the upper deck.  I have to look up the 3 games.  I think 2 are in November and one in February.  Once I see the schedule, if any of you want to join me, for what I paid for the tickets (about $60 each), you may.  Only monikers that I'm familiar with may apply.

I'm a Newbie at Hockey and went to several games this year.  I'm not up on all the penalty stuff but am catching on to the basics.  I hope to go with my cousin a few times this year so I can learn more!

Go  Caps!

Speaking of rules...remember the two-line pass rule? I was glad to see that one go.

Do they still have the 10 and 20 game packs? My wife and I were going to purchase full season tickets, but there's no way we'll be able to go to all of the games and I don't feel like going through the hassle of selling them. I wouldn't mind getting a 10 game pack, but they don't list them on the Caps website.

Nope, don't know that one.

The NHL did away with the rule a couple of years ago to open things up, but it was a pass that crossed a blue line and the center red line. I was glad to see that one done away with.

Not sure.  I got calls from one of the Caps Ticket account sellers last year.  He sent me an email on the "Hat Trick Packs".   There is also a deal for single tickets where it includes a ticket, food, Get in early, and a poster of some kind called the Dewar's Special.

Let me see what info I can find.  I'll post it here.  I'm a pack rat and rarely delete emails.   Sometimes its to my advantage.

Cool, I appreciate it. The Dewar's thing is a special promotion where you get all you can eat buffet prior to the game, free drinks, and some free Caps gear. You also get great seats.

Yeah the cheapest Dewars thing is around $150.  Good seats but for the unemployed, no dice.

My first game is November 1st.  HOWEVER, RYAN ZIMMERMAN, FRANK HOWARD, HARMON KILLEBREW, AND HOCKEY LEGEND GORDIE HOWE is going to be at the Showcase Memoribilia show at Chantilly that weekend.  All baseball players are on Sunday.  All Football is on Saturday.

www.csashows.com

That day Both seats will go to whoever for $124.00.  I haven't been sent them yet but if you want them, I'll shoot them to you when I get them.  Once the check is in the mail  ;)

I asked Josh, my ticket rep if I could exchange them for another date because of the schedule conflict.  Send me an email CALSGR8@YAHOO.COM, if they are wanted and I'll call off the switch.
