Saw where Destin is goin to the Instructional League, I think it will be good for him, more at-bats, more coaching, which can never hurt, I only see good coming from this

Destin Hood is a human bat.  He can hit anything and everything.

DESTIN HOOD is 2-for-2 with his first homer of the year (Suns first too) ... the pbp announcer is describing it as a monster blast.  Said right off the bat everyone knew it was a goner.  It's a pretty big park too which plays pretty fair.

With the Suns down by 2 and runners on 1st and 2nd (0 outs, bottom 8th), Hood struck out :(.  At least he made the pitcher throw eight pitches.

That "creepy" photo is interesting.  I'm an ametuer photgrapher and I can say the reason for that is the lighting is the worst portrait lighting I've ever seen.  He's lit from the sides, and not from a more traditional position i.e. the from the front combines with a "fill light".  A good example of this is that his right eye makes him look cross-eyed because the white of his right eye is lit extra heavy, thus giving a cross eyed look.  Also, his left side is lit more dimly, giving his face an uneven, asymmetrical look, not to mention a darker and slightly sinister look with it being dimply lit.  Also, he looks dead... just with his eyes open - there's no emotion.  He doesn't even look "tough".  Just... there.  Cross eyed, sinister, asymmetrical, emotionless = creepy in my book.

Yup.  I think he'll be at worst a AAAA player, and at best an everyday contributor... which I'm learning over time how difficult and special that is.

Must be hard to take pitches when you're crushing the ball like he is.

Man that a lot of K's  :?

Not sure if he can maintain that OPS over the course of the season, it will be interesting to see if he can adjust and take more pitches if he starts to slump.

Goldstein:
Quote
Since singing for a $1.1-million bonus in 2008, Hood has been one of the more up-and-down players in the system. At times, he's looked like one of the best hitting prospects in the system, and at other times he still looks like a football player (he had a scholarship to Alabama in the lesser sport) who is trying to figure out the game. Making his full-season debut in the Sally League, Hood looks more like a baseball player than ever, getting hits in 10 of 11 games, including an incredible weekend than included 10 hits to raise his early-season averages to .417/.429/.563. Despite his athletic pedigree, he's not the tools machine one would expect, as his speed is average, while his arm is below, but his bat speed is outstanding, and with some improvement in his plate discipline, he could really take off.

Speed is average?! Compared to what, a sports car? And I can personally say his arm is above average, the man threw a ball through the basket in my glove one day in practice. That seems to be a bit "below" superb.
