My assumption is that they go for a real CF at some point in the next year, maybe Bourn if the Braves can't extend him. At that point you've got 3 long-term players locked into the OF. I don't think Werth is the long-term answer in CF, especially not in 2013 and beyond when Hood could conceivably be knocking on the door.
It would be interesting to see if Harper could play CF, that would certainly solve a lot of problems, but we're still a team without a lead-off hitter. And if Desmond fails this year, that means Rendon at 2nd with Espinosa at SS, and a lot more emphasis in finding a CF who can leadoff.
Werth could also be shifted to 1B. They will make room for Hood if he is ready to contribute.
