The only problem is that there is no evidence that the Nationals are being run like any actual baseball franchise. The Lerners seem content to put the worst possible product on the field and convinced it doesn't matter because they will always get enough tourists, casual observers, and away-team fans to get by. It is a rare ownership group in sports that appears to care so little about its product. So not only is it hard to see how a new manager would be allowed or equipped to succeed, it doesn't seem like the ownership is even motivated to try.
If MLB would get rid of MLB welfare plan, aka revenue sharing, and force owners to put a merchantable product on the field in order to make a buck, that would provide some motivation.
