as i said before: if you were the phillies and your were entering the 8th inning against the Nats, you had to say to yourselves, we can still win because the Nats have the worst pen in mlb (maybe mlb history)

Here goes Manny over-managing again.  Colome's throwing well, so take him out fast.  WTF?

but even with this error - remeber, Taverez couldnt retire the first 2 batters. that wwas the game. Colome wasnt bad - he played a bunt. shouldve been 1 out runners on 2nd and 3rd. or bases loaded. then the pop out to short center. at worst 1 out bases loaded. But Taverez should be dumped. along with Cabrera, Olsen .....and on and on

I was thinking the same thing. That wasn't a terrible outing for Colome. In fact, it was a pretty good one.

I wondered the same thing  - what's the rush? Without the error - on a good throw to first, he's retired two...

He had him at first. Anderson is standing there. Why eat it?
Feliz bunted.

Colome cuts off Zimmerman, picks up the ball throws it straight at the bag where Hernandez is standing but doesn't even try to catch the ball and it rolls way into RF.

I blame Colome. He HAS to eat that ball.

manny acta should be fired after this one.  he's preached fundamentals forever now and it's not coming through to these guys.

11-25 after this loss and it's time so split ways.  he has lost this clubhouse and this ship has already sunk.

What has Colome done to actually be worth the longer look?

He gave up a hit in the two batters he faced.

So he only did his job 50% of the time. Couple that with how crappy he has been since being called up... And I think Manny made the right call.

Tavarez stunk, so Manny did the right thing in getting him out of there.  Colome was throwing fine, to me it's over managing when he's trying to match every hitter with an opposite armed pitcher.  And as you can see, the Phillies simply changed their hitter and got the matchup they wanted anyway, good for an RBI double.

Werth singled to left center.  Victorino walked, Werth to second.
Jesus Colome relieved Julian Tavarez.
Feliz reached on bunt single to pitcher, Werth and Victorino scored, Feliz to third on pitcher Colome's throwing error.
Beimel relieved Colome.
Bruntlett doubled to deep left center, Feliz scored.

The official scorer didn't think so.

Gave Feliz a hit on the play.

And it's not like Charlie hasn't shown his willingness to do that... as reacently as Friday night. :(
