[RESOLVED] Case-sensitive censors
« Topic Start: April 23, 2009, 09:04:43 AM »
Right now I can't type R.A. Dickey, Dick Vitale, or Philip K. Dick.

Nothing I can do will fix that unless I uncensor the word.  If I made the censors case-sensitive, I'd have to enter ever possible combination of letter capitalization for every censored word.

Just so R.A. D*i*c*k*e*y knows, I don't think he's a jerk

Philip K D i c k is my favorite author

Maybe nats2playoffs could volunteer to be swear moderator and could ban common usage like suck my, eat a, etc. . .

At least I can discuss architect Benjamin Bastard

The best is how the Caps' board censors lollipop.

Makes discussing Ken Hitchlollipop turn into a discussion of Ken Hitchjeffery

but calling cock a lollipop could be equally hilarious

I only consider "Dick" an offensive word in certain context, such as when followed by "Cheney."

Has there ever been somebody named Dick Hicks?

EDIT: Wow, there's even a Dick Hicks Paving Company!

It's not like this is a new development.  And you can't say damn on daytime TV, actually.  But you can say nag

You have a source for not being able to say "damn"? Because Star Trek aired before 11, and I know they said "Damn it, Jim"

That was 40 years ago dude.  And no I don't have a source, but I've seen enough lame-ass dubbed-over movies to know that "damn" gets censored all the time.  Are you saying you hate children? :P

Damn is censored by choice, not by law. And there's reruns, ya know.

The FCC has really cracked down. They started fining for Goddamn which in my opinion is Draconian. Thank Bono for saying freak on live tv.

The White House just announced a large priority shift for the FCC, all you Obama haters

Would you want your little kid running around saying damn?

If you don't like the censors, turn them off.  "All" and "nothing" are the only options I have.

I have a great story about my son saying "Jesus Christ" in our church parking lot.  My wife doesn't think it's very funny, though.

I have them on because  a family first conservative insisted on using the word "pictures" in a thread title, and that wouldn't fly in any office.

With the way we are playing, I think d@mn should be uncensored.
