Heh, never mind.  "Fire Acta" is a good bet if you are serious about bagging the noggin.  There's a guy who shows up at a lot of Caps games with a bag on his head while wearing enemy jerseys...sports psyops.

yeah.  teams fire their manager all the time and it ends up working out for them.  i think riggleman could do a much better job than manny.  we need a fresh face and a shake-up.

The more i think about it, I realize that there's really no use in calling for his job.  The team is not going to make a move and they have said so a million times.  So may as well hope he can somehow turn it around right away.

The Wizards got rid of Eddie Jordan - IMO it was the wrong move (had a good looking resume) - and threw Tapscott out there to suffer.  They made the right hire in Saunders, IMO, and I'm sure they'll be a lot better this year.  The Caps did the same with Hanlon a few years back and that mid season move to bring up Boudreau was an act of genious.  A shake-up could probably do us good, but I doubt it happens.  So, c'mon Manny, turn this thing around :?

At least if they make a move, it will show that somebody, anybody, in the FO is awake.  Manny is a joke and has no chance to turn it around.

could this be a correlation with the caps when they fired hanlon. hanlon was basically a cub scout den parent for ovechkin and a bunch of minor league guys. didnt work out so well when they got real players. we got some real players this year...

Hey there, mister, I betcha can't name any other Dominican managers who use Sabermetrics who, on top of all that, were part of the Mets organization!

I didn't realize putting in a relief pitcher (Villone) to face a batter (Huff) who has a 1.556 OPS against said pitcher was sabermetrics.  I thought that was just blindly following the lefty v lefty rule in spite of evidence that it's not a good matchup.

The Nationals are now on a pace to
Win 46 and LOSE 116 games, Phil Wood.
:spaz:   :hang:  :panic: :bag:

Acta is clueless in his press conferences. He has no answer for the continuous fielding errors and inept bullpen decisions (not performance, decisions.)  Hire someone who has an answer.

I just don't understand how MLB players can be so terrible defensively... I always thought that aspect of the game was like a guarantee in baseball until I watched this team.

I know, my bitterness is towards Acta, not you.  He just drives me crazy 'cause he seems to have absolutely no discernable philosophy.  He runs with runners that shouldn't run, makes inexlicable bullen decisions time & again, etc.

Agree'd. I really think sometimes he is just crazy with his ideas... Like he is overthinking it or something. Sometimes I'd like to see him go with the basics, but who knows.

There must be a reason we're keeping him. All I can think is although the average person doesn't understand his moves, big time baseball people must see some reason to his madness or the organization would fire him. I atleast hope this is true since there are people with bigger paychecks than us who are paid to make this decision.

That would be one cheap guy and his daddy (or one cheap guy and his son), a hack carny, and some interim dude

MLB.com: For the first time since you arrived in Washington, the fans are not on your side. They want to see a new manager. When you hear stuff like that, what is your reaction?

Acta: My reaction is, I can't control what people think or say. The bottom line is: they want to see the team win. Everybody is on board with the rebuilding. But that being said, not too many people are patient enough to lose while rebuilding. I have to respect their opinion, but I just prepare myself to go out there every single day and give this team the best possible chance to win.

Like him or not, if Boz puts something like this out there, there's probably some weight behind it, but that wasn't actually the quote.

This was the full line, it changes the interpretation a bit:

He (Acta) knows history says he's probably going to be fired if his team does not improve before the All-Star break.

Maybe a good beating with a length of hose administered by disgruntled fans, and then a ball and chain for a few days...if that doesn't work, then fire him.
