I think in this case it woulda made some sense though. Hinckley should've been saved for the lineup coming up. It would've helped him and gave a glimpse if hes really ready..

I dunno, I just thought the righty was a really dumb move.

He's had success against Utley and Victorino, so bringing him in wasn't a bad decision. Manny's mistake was leaving him in after he hit two guys.

Today was a no-brainer with 2 LHPs available in the pen.  Howard's career OPS vs. RHP=1.086, vs LHP=.787.

I will also point out that Howard whiffed against Ledezema the next time he came up.

To be honest, I should have left out a comment. I was laying down after the 5th inning and dozed off cause before Willingham came to bat and struck out. I didn't see how he pitched to them but I did hear that he hit them and so I jumped to the conclusion that he did pretty awful , but alone he should've been taken out after the hitting.

So I guess you can take my comment with a grain of salt.

Acta is a mother freaking idiot.

First, why in the crap didn't he let Tavarez get the last out in the 6th to save Hinckley for the 7th? Saul really screwed us but Acta put him in a position to fail. What the freak is the use of having all those lefties if Acta doesn't even use them properly?

An equally awful decision was bringing out WIL LEDEZMA to pitch the 8th. WHY THE freak DID WE SIGN JOE BEIMEL if we are going to use pieces of crap like Ledezma in the late innings of a close game??!! That 1 run he gave up was the difference.

but Acta put him in a position to fail.

Exactly.  And the manager's main job is to put his players in the best position to succeed.  Given who was coming up at the time, he should've flopped Beimel & Rivera to have the matchups work much more in favor of his pitchers.

This is why I am not 110% pissed off at Saul.

Wonder if he's hurt. He looked like Bacsik out there.

Beimel is the 8th inning guy, which means he can ONLY PITCH in the 8th IF there's a lead -- a rule put in place a few seasons back.  EIGHTH INNING ONLY WITH A LEAD.  Makes perfect sense.

I love how due to what ESPN announcers say, they think these guys are headcases who can only pitch in specific weird situations. Like they have 8th inning OCD.

Worse was listening to the post-game show, and caller after caller brought INTELLIGENT (Suck it, Wood) observations, backed up with facts and all Kerr could do was stutter and stammer about these stupid roles that 90% of the other teams don't do because they're complete horsecrap.

We might be the only city in the world where the post-game callers are smarter than the hosts.

I know everyone here wants him to get fired but does anyone think it is realistically going to happen?

Tomorrow would be the perfect day to do it but I just don't see them getting rid of Manny. I see them letting him stay the entire season and then letting his contract run out. But you never know. They could pick up his option for '10 at any time. :?
