Joe Beimel is a player you guys should rally behind.  He's a favorite in the clubhouse and to the fans.

I decided to make a YouTube video about Joe Beimel in early January of 2008.  I called it "The Legend of Joe Beimel."

Seen here..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eVPKmlMwJ8

It turns out he saw it and he appeared in a video with one of his friends.

Seen here...

I've always been a guy who roots for the "underdog" and Joe Beimel fit that bill when he came aboard in 2006.  He was absolutely amazing.

In '06 and '07 he really excelled under Grady Little.  Little didnt treat him as a lefty specialist.

In '08, I always felt Torre misused Beimel.  Many times he pitched to just one batter.  It was really frustrating.   Since he's gone from the Dodgers I'm glad he's on a team that will give him that chance to be a true set-up man, paying no attention to which hand the balls comes out of.

I can't stress enough what a great guy Joe Beimel is.  In ST of '08 he gave me one of his gloves and bats. (Yes, he has his own bats believe it or not.)

Just recently, he sent me a whole collection of stuff.  Including his famous Joe Beimel Dodger Robe.

Seen here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ad29us0lNc

I had been in contact with Joe via YouTube messages, and he was actually going to pay to fly me out to LA if he resigned with the Dodgers.

I was at Camelback Ranch on 3/7-3/8.

This is the "E-Mail" he sent me....
i have no idea what you did while you were down in AZ, BUT IT WORKED! colletti called my agent yesterday, and when my agent didn't call him back, he had the traveling secretary scott akasaki call me on his behalf to see if i had any interest in coming back to the dodgers. my agent and ned talked today, so hopefully something can be worked out sooner rather than later. if i end up signing back with LA then i am definitely flying you out here for a weekend series of your choice and leaving you tickets. you have my word.

joe

I made a whole bunch of Joe Beimel Videos you can see on the front of my YouTube channel.

Once again, I cant stress enough how awesome Joe Beimel is as a player and person.

He even mentioned my name (TroyfromWV) twice while giving out lineups on Fox.  The 2nd time being Game 2 of the NLCS.  They are on video too.

So I'm counting on the diehard Nats fans to rally behind Joe Beimel and keep the Legend alive.

Great videos, man. Hilarious.

He might actually end up being our closer if Hanrahan doesn't work out.

troy-We have a few deep blue fans here, but I think your love for Joe Beimel has all of them beat! And I hope Joe's tenure here causes a few more Nats fans to want to make Joe Beimel vids. Welcome..

Nice videos Troy, they definitely added a different dimension to Beimel.  Hope you can make it out to the park this season to see him.

Holy crap.

He looks like a cross between Bob Dylan and Douglas Brinkley:

I saw the Dodgers play the Nats in 2006 at that old football stadium.

This is the 3rd year in a row the Dodgers will be in Washington during the week.

I like to stay at the team hotel, but the Ritz in Pentagon City is just way too expensive during the week.  This year the Dodgers head to Pittsburgh right after they leave Washington.  And its the next to last week of the season.  So I dont see myself making it to DC again this year.

Thats an awful picture of him.  Thats a picture he had in a Dodger cap.  MLB must have just photoshopped a Nats hat on him.

Troy, those videos are hilarious, I especially liked your story about starting in with the beer at 11:00 am, and the results of that particularly aggressive drinking regimen.    rofl

Your kids are really cute too, I loved how they were just dying to spill the beans on the robe, but you were able to shush them up just enough.   Great stuff.

Could it be the cult of Beimel rivals that of Chris Snelling?    <laughing>

I'm just trying to understand the logic behind naming someone "Beltway Joe" when he hasn't even pitched near the Beltway before. It's 11:30pm at night. Just trying to entertain myself before sleep hits. Wink
