Has anyone found out the hard way (as we did) that XM and Sirius merged and changed many stations ?

On Mike Auldridge's webpage they are called resophonic guitars, just thought it was weird to change the name.

Per my friend -
Quote
Basically a resophonic guitar is one which has a metallic resonator cone similar to a speaker. The metal hubcap-looking coverplate protects the cone from being damaged.

I wouldn't call it "hard".  I'm enjoying the 24/7 Dead channel, my son's happy with the return of Led Zepp, and my wife loves the Margeuritaville sound.  Are you missing something?

I really liked FINE TUNING (76), which was a variety of top pieces from a mixture of rock, jazz, new age, and classical.  Good if one liked many types of music.

I listen to 76 (or, USED to listen) about once every couple of weeks, always at home for background dinner or general inside mood music.  Too bad, but for me a survivable loss.  Is there a comparable replacement?  45?

Thanks - I'll try 45 (XM Cafe).  But I doubt it will have the classical and new age variety that was on Fine Tuning.

I do think the Greadfull Dead (57) and E Street Radio (58 ) were good additions.

XM 55 is the shiz-nit.  It is the first XM station that has competed seriously with XM-175 for my listenership.

Yes. They removed both old school rap channels: 65 The Ryme and whatever the Sirius one was. They should have at least kept one.  The Sinatra channel makes up for about half of the utility I lost

So wait, there are still separate lineups for each service? WTF, keep XM the way it was and Sirius the way it was if you are going to do that. I can understand if they had one lineup, but this is just stupid.

I love Alt Nation and Lithium (90's rock). I think Alt Nation was merged with Ethel from XM.

Yeah, those are the two stations that I pretty much listen to.

Now now, play nice.

Since yesterday, I've been digging XM 51, The Coffee House, singers and songwriters, an excellent mix of styles and artists.

I remember the first time I heard WHFS in like '82. It was such so refreshing after listening to DC101 or 98 Rock.

WRNR is the spawn of WHFS, but you can only pull it in from northeastern regions of DC area (say, Bowie) and Baltimore, east to Annapolis and around the bay.

I went to an early HFStival, at Lake Fairfax park, pretty cool.  I think Green Day was one of the featured bands.

98 Rock in the early-mid 90's was incredible. They played all kinds of music you couldn't hear anywhere else. Then I went on vacation, and when I came back they were playing the Counting Crows, and that was the end of the coolness :(

Oh, come on. August And Everything After was a great album.

Funny how the mind plays tricks. I immediately substituted Black Counting Crows until August And Everything After came up.

You could hear Counting Crows every morning at 8:47am like clockwork on MTV  - the point was that they lost their uniqueness and their edge.

Or they were aped and copied into irrelevance...

I'm not even going to start reminiscing about HFSTivals. Shamrockfest is a pale shadow but the best we seem to have around anymore.

HFSTival second stage was super awesome - and they'd always put a band like the Afghan Whigs on the first stage that everyone hated, but I loved.

Fred Schneider from the B52's came with his punk band and played the second stage.

I meant 98 Rock had lost their edge - sorry
