So apparently there's no injury...  Manny just felt like switching Church out...  curious.  Maybe because of his lack of hustle during his first AB?  Inquiring minds want to know.

I didn't see a lack of hustle on that play. The outcome of the play was pretty much done with when he slowed down, unlike what happened with Fick the other night. Sometimes this "lack of hustle" is overdone.

Didn't Ryan Church has some sort of flu, or something?  That might be the reason for sitting him.

No matter how bad our defense and pitching is, I still think our offense (or lack of) is a greater concern.

I'm trying to find a way to agree or disagree with that statement but I can't do it either way. I'm concerned about the team in general.

Any chance he was pulled because he is being traded? It wouldn't be the first time. I did see him wince a bit on the replay, and it was not worthy of a "no hustle" benching IMO. If there was something in the match up situation, that should have been done prior to the game starting. This is a weird thing.

Although 2/5 of our rotation is completely worthless I agree that our embarrassing offense is the biggest problem.  We don't hit with RISP, we have no awareness of the count (ex: Lopez popping up on a 3-1 pitch right there), and in general we just struggle to hit at all even against horrible or inexperienced pitching (ex: Wes Obermueller, Micah Ownings, Edgar Gonzalez, etc, etc..).

Goodness gracious!  That's a little harsh, isn't it?  I know he's having a super hard time, but "kill yourself".  Wow, he must be having an extra bad day.

It really makes no sense. I agree it shouldn't be a hustle issue. I believe the flu thing is in the past. And the report was that he wasn't injured but they could just not be saying anything about a possible injury. I don't buy the trade scenario at this stage in the season.

If he's being traded, it had better be a hell of a trade considering he's finally starting to perform this season.

I sure hope they're not going to trade him.  He's been a big part of this ball club,  and we really need him!

Too many stranded runners. But hasn't this been an issue since 2005?

I TOLD you Debbi Taylor was pregnant! They really hid it for a long time, but it's way too hot for someone expecting in June to wear a jacket.  Plus, most pregnant women LOOK like they are smiling for TWO. Let's get some HITS and WIN this for that BABY-2-B!

That's the type of at-bat that pisses me off.. Runner on 1st and 2nd and Kearns flies out on the first pitch he sees.  If I were Manny that would result in an immediate benching or at the very least a tongue lashing.

We would eventually run out of position players.

Batters have to swing at pitches that they believe are the best chance to get a hit. If he sees the ball in his wheel-house, I can't argue with a swing.

F*ck this team and Jerome Williams.  How do you give up a HR on an 0-2 count??  This team is in the gutters and is likely done for the season.  They will never recover.

Cabrera is the best hitter in baseball. There is no excuse to pitch to him with bases empty.
