Keeping the number of teams low helps too. Given the number of particiipants or interested parties I wish last year it would have been split into two leagues IMO or had reduced roster slots. The talent was spead too thin for wheeling and dealing which is my favorite part.

I look forward to it but will likely pass if the league is too deep, it just isn't nearly as much fun.

The thing with Roto is, it rewards teams that are built to win over the long haul, as HalfSmokes said, you don't have AAAA players deciding your season.

Could not disagree more. I am in a 12 team NL only league - which was a 13 team league last year. If you have one of the 10 teams mixed leagues, there's little skill involved and it's more random when the pennant is decided by whether you had Matt Kemp or Ryan Braun. It is much better when you need to pay attention to every single player and bench player and have to scrape for every at bat you can find.

totally agree, I don't mind low numbers, but I like to add mi, ci, two catchers and 5 outfielders to make up for it

I don't like it when it becomes follow the scrub to figure out which 2B/SS is starting to fill out some bloated roster or when it is spread so thin that you know it is futile when you are in the bottom half of waiver priority.

Simply put, spread too thin and you spend the season looking at crappy players trying to eek out the last little bit of performance from that third middle infield spot in your starting roster.

This is my preference yet I recognize only a fool argues over taste.

there is a happy medium- I hate having to start the Os number 4, but I equally hate seeing all stars on the waiver wire. I think being able to find a starter or two at a given position to add is my preference (so for a 12 team league, having an MI spot - so ideally 18 2bs are starting, a few are on benches and a couple of starters are left over on the wire)

I mock drafted on CBS today, #1 overall in their rankings system is Halladay.  Sabathia is 4, Lee is 6.  Absolutely useless mock draft given someone is always on auto-pilot so all three of them are gone in the first round.

I'm staying away from pitching until the 2nd or 3rd this year.

I was just thinking about this today. We've got about 2 1/2 weeks until baseball so I'll get started on a thread tomorrow. I'm going to check the roster from last years ESPN league and give them first priority but I believe we had maybe 16(?) people in it? I'm down for that and more if people want to join.

I'll make it a poll so we can vote on H2H or Rotisserie or w/e.

5. haren

No complaints.  Only nat was Gio in the 9th round.

i've been in the same league with the same 10 guys for about 18 years now.  We usually try and get together in person but we all had kids over the years so it gets a bit tougher.
