So, anyone know of any texts I should consult to learn the history and strategy of the game?

Unfortunately that doesn't work where I take my lunch breaks.

Craven Cottage is one of the coolest fields in soccer IMO.

Liverpool is controlling this game thus far.

dempsey had like 3 or 4 good shots. hit a post. that was a pretty good game. lots of good saves by both goalies

I love that ESPN carries the Monday night match now.  Perfect way for me to ease into the week...deal with the usual Monday morning crap, then a big game at 3:00.

Ever any talk about what Dempsey's transfer fee would be if Fulham tanked?  He's getting a bit older, about 30 now I think.  Still, I always loved watching him when he was with the Revs.

I read a Frank D'ellapa piece the other day criticizing the style of play in MLS as being so physical that it discourages skillful play.  The old Rev teams had a reputation for that, so he says it is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black, but he said that Dempsey used to get so hacked up that he really could not show how superior a player he was in MLS Cup finals his teams were in.  By the time of the Cup, he was always injured due to the fouling.

Was watching the Chelsea game, but this Porto-Zenit game is a lot more meaningful now. I'm rooting for Porto. Hulk is one of my favorite players.

Yeah, it sucks. Valencia just can't get the ball to Soldado up front.

This Morison kid looks pretty good for Norwich.   Today's the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen him.    I like that Oregon Duck look.   I may have found my bandwagon.

Morison and Holt are both solid strikers. Paul Lambert is probably the early favorite for Manager of the Year.

Manchester City-Chelsea today at 3. Should be an awesome game.
