No offense to either of you or either of them, but I think you're both highly overrating them.
Who else is there? Jordan "HGH" Schafer? Cameron Maybin, I guess. But the season is still young!

Well, when I was at practice and did something right where we had been struggling to me, that's what my coach would always say.  Was it an accident?  Or did you finally figure it out?  He earned an opportunity to find out.  He's got good enough stuff to be servicable.
I agree. I like his stuff too but constantly getting behind these hitters is going to burn him sooner or later. He was behind the first guy 3-0 and the second guy 2-0. it helped that he was facing a bunch of free swinging bums.

I just look at his track record and I don't think he can sustain this but I hope he does.

At the moment, I think he's our best option.

oh hell yeah, on the Post-game they are talking about Flores and his development as a great young catcher. Not only is he hitting really well but he is playing well behind the plate and working real well with our pitchers.

He seriously gets freaking pissed when they miss their location or walk batters. you can see it.

kip wells is so underrated, he's like my favorite reliever on this team. you guys give him so much crap...

I agree.  I've seen a lot of negative comments about Kip, but he's been getting the job done.  In a bullpen that's been a sea of suckitude, he's the guy I worry least about coming out to pitch.

I think I would trust Beimel more but obviously Beimel was unavailable tonight.

Totally. No way in hell a National is going to win an Award for anything this season.

I just said it would be fun if it happened.  That's all.

Well yeah sure it would.  I honestly don't pay that much attention to awards like that so I'm not really sure who else is "in the running" but it seems like there must be more realistic candidates than them right now, and going forward.  You don't (or at least shouldn't) get ROY pitching 5-1/3 3 ER or 6.0 6ER games.

who's your NL rookie of the year candidate?

No offense to you, but I think you are underrating them.

Hey now Julian had a couple of bad outings but for the most part has been good, he does have one save too!

I wouldn't know, I honestly don't care that much about ROY.

There really aren't too many rookie starters in the NL this season. Martis and Zimmermann are probably the top 2 right now. The NL ROY will be a hitter, though. Probably Fowler.

That's possible, and unfortunate.  I think we've got two gold glove candidates on the infield corners too.

NICE WIN! 1 down, 2 to go... i'm sensing a sweep.

player of the game: Jesus Flores

Zimmerman remains unstoppable.

They've both got potential and it's fun to watch their starts, but "as-is" it just seems ridiculous to me to suggest them as ROY front-runners.

But again, I'm really not aware of who else is out there.

seriously, there are not many candidates at all. Right now Martis is the leading guy whether you want to believe it or not.

Dexter Fowler had one great game when he had all those steals. That's it. He is going to strike out a lot and hit for a low average. He will struggle.

Barden got off to a good start for the Cards but he is not even playing everyday anymore. He's a 28 year old rookie anyways.

Maybin is hitting .202.

I'm not hating on Julian, I'm just saying that I like how Wells is playing pretty well.

That's fine if he is, it doesn't matter what I "believe" (you're the believer around here) but IF that's the case, it must be a pretty lousy crop of rookies.

Nice. Flores came to the mound and told Kip "you are better than that" after falling behind the first hitter 3-0.

Wells was very complimentary of him. Said that helped him a lot.

yes, still early but right now Martis is the front runner despite having an ERA over 4.

Loved the fist pump after the last strike too.
