They had big trouble "up north." They are still in business, but they contracted. A lot.
We had Krispy Kreme up here for a while too (I liked their doughnuts, I always wondered where they went).

They used to sell Krispy Kreme donuts at my Sheetz, I haven't really checked, but I kind of think the Krispy Kreme branded case is gone now.

Scrapple is mighty delicious.  I've had it deep fried once.  I could hear my arteries hardening.

You can get a Krispy Kreme donut in Dupont Circle! Hot! MMMMMMMM.....

Sheetz changed to their own bakery brand.

Never been big on Krispy Kreme, but I did enjoy CheerWine while living in Carolina.

There's a Carolina bbq place in Ashburn that has it.

Krispy Kreme still has a location up on Broad Street here in Richmond.

Nothing beats seeing the "Hot now" sign all lit up when you're looking for a treat.

That reminds me (terp will probably get on me for this one...), I tried Red Hot and Blue while down there this past weekend.  I must say that while it certainly wasn't disgusting by any means, it failed to live up to the hype.  I got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with slaw and beans.

Good - just not spectacular.

Urban BBQ in Rockville is probably as good as it gets outside of Texas, but this place in Ashburn is really good too.

Capitol Q BBQ by Verizon Centre is quite good as well...excellent brisket, and a nice thick & smokey hot sauce.  I'm no purist (these pissing contests between proponents of different varieties of "real" BBQ baffle me), but I know what I like, and that brisket tastes like it is cooked at 200 for 12 hours.

Yeah, but Capitol Q isn't in the same center as Gilly's and El Patio :stir:

Gilly's had Dogfish 120 on tap for a few days...the folks from FDA drank it dry in about 72 hours.

El Patio will bring you a plate of grilled meat the size of your head, complete with sweetbreads and blood sausage.

I was unaware that Klingon cuisine was popular around here.

They put big TVs outside for the World Cup.  I think the whole Argentine/Uruguayan population descends on the place for big matches.  There were hundreds of people blocking the sidewalk and one lane of Twinbrook when Argentina played Germany in 2006.

El Patio will bring you a plate of grilled meat the size of your head, complete with sweetbreads and blood sausage.

Right on the bike path.  Still haven't been in that joint yet but it's on my short list.

Yes, you dumbass, you didn't ask me what to order while just blundering in there like some damn tourist.

Dry ribs, potato salad should have been at the top of your list.  The catfish is nothing to sneeze at either.
