Matt Cain. I'd take Stras myself but the pundits say it's Cain, Dickey is fading.

Fangraphs WAR says Greinke and Strasburg
xFIP says Strasburg and Greinke
ERA says Dempster and Dickey
K/9 says Strasburg and Gio
K says Strasburg and Dickey
FIP- says Strasburg and Greinke
WPA says Dickey and Cueto
I don't see Matt Cain's name in there.

Funny how the Nats had "rotten luck" all game only to win on a "luck" play.

So a lock Dickey starts ASG?

I say this win is all because of Wilbur! Step forward, Wilbur! You're our good luck charm!

Wilbur should DEFINITELY use a picture of Mister Ed for his WNFF avatar!

Anybody seen the hat available online?  If not I'll hope they have my size at the park this weekend.

If I was managing the ASG, I'd throw the AL way the hell off with 9 batters of Strasburg, 9 batters of Dickey, and then a cold shower of Aroldis Chapman, followed by the rest of the 'pen.

How about the Giants stranding a runner at 3rd base with 0 outs in the 7th inning? Proves huge. As does HRod stranding a runner at third base in the 8th.

Not a pretty finish but I'll take it.

In keeping with Game 7, 1924. See http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/WS1/WS1192410100.shtml

Nats catcher Muddy Ruel hits a pop foul behind the plate. Giants' catcher stumbles on the mask he had tossed behind himself. Ruel hadn't hit much all series but gets a double. (Walter Johnson walked?). Earl McNeely hits a grounder at the Giants SS, a great fielder named Freddie Linstrom. The ball takes a miracle hope over Linstrom's head...Nats win the Game and the WS in the 12th.

It's funny the little things that help you win games.

How about Desmond's check swing single in the 8th and Espinosa's HBP that followed him? Set the table for the top of the lineup in the 9th.

The Nats just swept the Giants with their No. 3-4-5 starters against Tim Lincecum, Madison Bumgarner and Matt Cain, their '10 Series stars.

What a game!  This had to be one of the most exciting of the year.  The crowd was so into it too.  It would have been easy to give up when it was 5 to 1.  But then Desmond and Espi hit homers which started a marvelous comeback.  You can't say enough about the young guys on this team.  Moore's pinch-hit double, Lombo's bunt and Harper's extraordinary ability to get hits at a crucial time.  Harper's not as over-anxious at the plate which has really helped him.  All of this against a premiere team with three excellent starting pitchers and what do the 2012 Nats do?  They sweep them.  This year is very special and I'm just thrilled.

P.S. - The throwback uniforms were super!

Romo is untouchable but their closer Casilla is beatable.
I am wrong about many things but I was on point with this one. Thanks to fantasy baseball

I'm not sure how they won that game.  When they were down 3-1, then 4-1, then 5-1, the game just felt over.  Then HRod comes in and looks just as much a nervous wreck as he's ever looked.  And somehow they pull out a win.  Just amazing.

i felt this too, but after desi-espi went back-to-back. I was thinking maybe there's a chance here.

Check this out. In the 7th inning, we had a 2.7% chance of winning. Even after the back-to-back homers, we only had a 15.4% chance of winning.

I put this on the Bryce Harper thread but I think a lot of you would like to see it here as well since Bryce had some very critical hits tonite.  He's customized his car with a curly "W."
