The Pats take all kinds of dudes with character issues or supposed character issues and just win ships.

This saddens me.  Him leaving means I'll have to wait for the 0-16 season for the FORESKINZ for Chad Dukes to do the honourable thing and :hang:

I just don't like how they have over a dozen WR's on the roster. They picked up a lot of trash. As of right now, the depth chart at that position doesn't look any better than last year with Moss and Armstrong being the 1 and 2. I agree the defensive backfield has been upgraded but it's a disaster to get a 5th rounder plus 2 6th rounders in future years for players like Hayensworth and McNabb considering what they gave up to acquire those two to begin with.

So they got two fifth rounder picks and a sixth round pick for McNabb and Haynesworth. Lololololol. Come on, seriously? That's the best they could do? Admittedly Haynesworth, we are lucky any team would take him, but given the right fit, he's still got talent. It seems comical to me they basically dumped these players for nothing. Two fives and a six equals maybe one average player at best to come out of it. This is why the team sucks, and will continue to suck.

No they got two 6th's and a 5th. A 6th next season and a 5th and a 6th in 2013 (after the world ends). A 6th two years from now is like an undrafted FA this season.  :?

Don't you believe in second chances/fresh starts? Maybe a change will help him rebuild his reputation.   ;)

The fact that ANYBODY wanted him so we could get SOMETHING out of the deal is amazing!  Good riddance to the locker room cancer!  However many wins or losses we get are in spite of him and not Because of him!

Awesome news!  Now to get a decent quarterback.

Interesting deal. I was pretty shocked, certainly woke me up.

This is pretty obvious, but it all depends on how much BB can get out of Haynesworth. He's a talented player, if he plays hard, he could be a viable asset. We play a fair amount of 4 man fronts, he would be another DT on those, and he could see some time at 34 DE.

Stokely and Stallworth were signed to one year deals. Not a big deal considering these guys are just there to see if they can contribute, if they can't they'll be cut. I fully expect that the starters will be Armstong and Hankerson with Moss in the slot. Granted Hankerson is a rookie, but the kid looks to be an impact receiver... if they can find someone to get the ball to him. Niles Paul is a big body receiver with decent speed and Aldrick Robinson has the speed to be a threat from the slot. Robinson reminds me a lot of S. Moss.

Cofield, 6'3" 305lbs, will play NT in the 3-4 and should be an immediate upgrade over anyone we had there last year. Adding to that the additions of Chris Neild and Jarvis Jenkins, the D line should be much improved. Again, should be. Ryan Kerrigan will soon be a fan favorite, in my opinion, as an OLB.

While neither Roy Helu or Evan Royster were "sexy" picks, Shanny's ability to identify running backs that fit his rushing scheme has been proven time and again. I trust that one of these guys, Helu is my guess, will end up the starter down the stretch.

Yeah, the fact we could get anything for either McNabb or Haynesworth is a good thing. While I don't expect a playoff run this year, I do expect a much improved team. For far too long the front office/head coach abandoned the draft to trade for past-their-prime talents all the while getting older and older. Now Shanny has done the right thing by getting much younger and beginning to develop home grown talent. I'm much happier with this regime than I have been since the late 80's early 90's.

Skins backed out of deal with Stokley due to being overloaded at receiver. He's still on the radar as a back up measure. Per Rotoworld.

About 40 minutes ago BB said it is not a done deal, so there may be details (physicals?) to pass.  You are right - between the 2 down 5 LB sets and the 4 down 3 LB sets my guess is the Pats are in a 3- 4 less than half the time (actually, I could source this; it's really not a guess).  Also, Haynesworth would not play nose tackle in the 3 -4 - that would be the another large dude, Vince Wilfork.  That would suit his ego.

I hate this deal. It's a $5MM cap hit. small potatoes, but I'd rather see an extension of a core piece like Mayo or the young CBs than this.  I hope BB has enough guts to cut his butt the first time he shows any attitude.  This guy is a known disrupter of his own teams.  This is worse than Adalius Thomas, who mostly became a pain in the butt after he came to the Pats.  I would have liked to have seen Steve Neal stick around just for camp to knock this guy on his butt in a fight.

I heard the Redskins were covering most of the deal. Regardless, I'm okay with it... Mayo should have another two years if I counted correctly. And I was a big Adalius Thomas fan :(
