How about moving Morse AND Moore along with Lombo for a pitcher or two, then letting go of LaRoche and signing Josh Hamilton to play 1B?
Have to ship Moore and Lombo together, it's a two-for-one. I'll be sad when they're inevitably separated.

Both are cheap and great bench options right now.  Moore has the big righty bat off the bench and can play 1B or LF.  Lombo is a super utility guy who can hit pretty well.  His defense is also strong in the infield and meh in LF.  I don't see them being traded just yet.

I hope not, I love Moore's power and just how useful Lombo is. I don't think they're moving either.

Move the guy with one year left making millions (Morse) instead of the cheap, controlled labor.

Also, by letting ALR walk, Rizzo gets an extra 1st round comp, which will be more important now with the loss of Meyer from the system. Have Morse play out one more year, offer him an arb contract, collect another pick in 2014? Why trade him for anything less than immediate usefulness when the status quo gives you one year of Morse+draft pick compensation?

So, so many valuable assets on this team.

The Zack Greinke rumors keep coming.

The Nationals could pose a major threat to the Dodgers in the sweepstakes for Greinke, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com writes. One GM wonders if both the Dodgers and the Nationals could bid “at all costs.” One friend of Greinke’s said the right-hander will consider winning, comfort and money

While the Dodgers may have more money, they are dysfunctional. Not to mention, the Dodgers get way more scrutiny and coverage than the Nationals. A good offer coupled with the prospect of playing on a serious World Series contender might be enough to overcome a more lucrative offer from the Dodgers.

Of course we could pose a threat. There's always that possibility. It's whether we're going to take action or not is what matters.

Also, Greinke is far better suited to the DC area than LA.

Listening to nate silver on a podcast and he had an interesting idea/question- why has no team ever offered a massive premium to a star player to take a short term deal? Since long term deals normally work out terrible, why hasn't a team bumped up an AAV for an offer by enough to get a player to take a two or three year deal?

I wouldn't say "ever".   Remember when the Dodgers signed Manny to a massive one-year deal. (With player option for year 2.)

What's $40M when you can get $20M+ a year guaranteed and not have to drag your family/skeezas/demon spawn to a new city once the one year deal is up?

He's got a guaranteed contract for how many years again?  He's a moron for not getting a no-trade clause in his contract.

Which would have been irrelevant had he gotten a no-trade clause.  You can't cure stupidity or trust Loria.  Besides, Reyes isn't a US citizen, is he?

Saw the Braves got Walden for Hanson.  Good trade for the Braves - I bet Hanson goes the route of Jurrjens.

Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com hears that the Mets are eyeing Jesus Flores and Carlos Maldonado of the Nationals in their search for catching help.
Flores is a former Mets farmhand that the Nats picked up in the Rule 5 Draft. He's batted .241/.289/.375 over parts of five seasons with Washington. Either he or Maldonado would likely be used in a platoon role with Josh Thole.

What do you think we could get back for either Flores or Maldonado?  Maybe Josh Edgin?  Big lefty reliever.  Can't remember if was good or straight garbage.

Judging by the comments, it looks like other fans value morse more than some posters here do.

Morse hits massive bombs and has a good batting average. I'm not surprised other teams' fans would want him.

The Angels recently checked in on Dan Haren, who’s getting interest from lots of East Coast teams, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports (on Twitter).

I wouldn't complain if we got Haren on a 2-3 year deal.
