if i could just get the streaming video to work, this would be a nice little cloud-computing machine. which is fine for me. most of my stuff that I do is web-based anyway. once i figure out how to make local files automatically open in Google Docs, i'm deleting Office. this comp doesn't have a big HD and i can use that 700MB on other stuff.

Advanced SystemCare (Free or Pro) is a lot better than CCleaner, IMO. Awesome program.

Doesn't even look like remotely the same type of product to me.  Right tool for the right job.  The software you mention looks much more comprehensive.  I think JMad is just looking for a quick fixup.

True, but its registry cleaner is better.

right.

after running CCleaner, the laptop is noticeably faster. I need to get some more RAM for this thing though.

i also enrolled in the "Feather" Beta. Feather is the name of Youtube's "lite" player project. the Feather-version works for me, but not all youtube videos have it.

still don't think i'll be able to do Hulu. I'm gonna go to the library tomorrow and try it out, with a better wireless connection(I'm hijacking a wireless router right now, and the connection is weak).

plus I need to figure out how to make Google Docs my global default. once i do that, i'll be in business.

say, any of you know anything about Adobe Air? the flash-based MMO i downloaded uses it, and I am wondering in regards to Flash, how much of it is the Graphics Chip, and how much of it is the processor and RAM. right now, I can run the game on this computer, but it lags when I begin combat(it's a Strategy RPG playstyle). once combat is over, lag stops.

bleh, I can't remember the last time i had a computer with less than a Gig of RAM lol. it's frustrating.

I guess.  I like CCleaner's registry cleaner because it's fairly safe.  Most "real" registry cleaners tend to overstep their bounds and cause problems in my experience.

I mostly just like CCleaner because it's portable and quick.  Saves me a lot of manual cleanup.

say, any of you know anything about Adobe Air?

I've never needed it for anything but of course YMMV.

i see. only thing i need it for, is this specific game. it's a downloadable client, but the game's graphics are Flash-based. and when i installed it, it had me download Adobe Air.

plus, just to say FYI, i'm not working with a solid internet connection here, I'm bootlegging wireless for now. so it may be a weak connection to blame.

It's easier to use. Macs are overpriced.

Unfortunately I have to agree. I hate the Mac UI with a fiery passion, the mouse doesn't do what I want it to do. And they really are overpriced.

nothing really although i'm not that familiar with it. i've never had one but i like to play around with the ones at work.

Windows is just better. It is a lot more compatible with software, hardware, etc. It's easier to use.
There is software to do pretty much everything you do on Windows on the Mac.  Sometimes it's not the same software but there is usually something out there.

I agree.  They are priced higher than similar specced machines, but I do like the aesthetics and general design of their products.  That said, if I could put OS X on something like an HP Envy 15, I would probably do that over buying a MacBook Pro.

I'd go crazy without all my multi-touch trackpad gestures for a long while if I had to switch my main machine back to a PC.  2 finger vertical and horizontal scrolling, 3 finger swipes to go forward and backward in the browser, 4 finger swipe up to make all the windows glide off the screen to view the desktop, 4 finger swipe down to make all the windows shrink and display all open windows on the screen to switch windows.

My sausage fingers look like palm gestures to the touch pad. I turn all that crap off.

Have you tried one of the new MacBook glass touch pads?  I have fat fingers too, but it seems to always get it right.

No but glass in a computer is not something I'd buy - I'm sure I'd break it.

Well then stay away from the MacBook Pro   Glass screen and glass trackpad.  Though the glass screen on my iPhones have withstood the abuse in my pocket day in and day out for years.

Apparently 7 is now "officially" supported in Boot Camp: http://www.tuaw.com/2010/01/19/boot-camp-updated-now-supports-windows-7/

There's something in there about upgrading from Vista, but I'm too lazy to see what that's about.

I got the new drivers, they make the track pad less touchy, and the red optical audio light no longer shines at all times from the headphone jack.  Still no dual graphics support.

Upgrading from vista requires a proper unmount of the mac partition from within windows apparently.  I didn't do an upgrade so I'm not sure.

I "captured" a copy of a virus that blocks almost everything and spams the user with viagra popups from one of our users.  Is it wrong that I think it would be hilarious to put this on someone's computer as a practical joke?

Sounds pretty funny to me.
