Actually no, I hadn't thought about that.  I'm still using an older one with the one big button.  I didn't like the button-less ones at first either but after fooling with it at Best Buy I think you could get used to it easily enough.  Essentially I just pretended the button was still there (I tend to click with my thumb).  Felt natural enough for a 5-minute store demo.  I'm sure I'd get used to it with time.

Yeah, I've got the last of the all silver MacBook Pros before they went to the buttonless pad and black keys.  The buttonless pad is hard to get used to.

for the most part, touchpads are tolerable, so long as you can disable that horrible "tap-to-click" feature.

tap-to-click is the worst, and it should be disabled by default.

On the contrary, I find tap to click is the saving grace of touchpads.  Especially buttonless ones.  They'd require much more effort in day to day use otherwise.  Literally.

Oh well, to each their own

yeah.

tap to click frustrates me to no end. disabling it is the very first thing I do when I turn on a computer that I know I will use the touchpad on.

So what kind of "apps" can you install and what do they do that you can't already do in a normal web browser?

from what I can see, most of them are just links to the Web Apps, placed on your desktop. there are some apps though. mostly its a function of the Chrome Web Store, which is mostly desktop-ized links to web apps. there are some actual Apps though, like Ebuddy.

I don't have many apps thus far, but from what I can see, even the ones that are just links are very well integrated into the OS. after all, the entirety of the OS is a web browser anyway.

you can install pretty much anything off the Chrome Web Store. https://chrome.google.com/webstore

the OS is nothing more than a Platform for the Web Apps to run in.

The computers running this OS are going to need to be insanely inexpensive in order to gain traction. there is very little that this OS does that you can't do in the regular Chrome Browser, from my limited experience so far.

I will say after a few days of using the CR-48 that Netbooks are incredibly misnamed.

The CR-48 is a literal Netbook.

Did you mean to go to this:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=(3

'Cause that's what it does.  At least on Chrome on XP, and Mobile Safari on iOS.

Ah, just copy and paste it. The board software doesn't recognize an asterisk as part of a url.

Yeah, this CR-48 is overall pretty lovely.

I will say that it does lack some things, especially in the app store.  and for what ChromeOS offers, the netbooks running it will have to be insanely cheap in order to gain traction.

i'm talking 100-150 bucks a piece here. 200 at the absolute most, but more like 150 should be the price point, imo.

I hope Google gets the pricing right, or this is going to bomb spectacularly.
