The Nats offense didn't really take off until Werth got back.
All aside, this is correct. Werth in the leadoff spot turned this offense around.
The splits give the most dramatic edge to team performance pre/post cortisone.
Any time Desmond wasn't playing the offense noticeably suffered.
They scored a ton of runs when Espinosa and Lombardozzi started every day together in July and early August. In the 24 games Desmond was out, they scored 6 or more runs 10 times. They averaged 5.4 runs per game. on the season, they've averaged 4.6 runs per game.
