I'm assuming it did or we'd be seeing a replay...

I think he means the pressure of being paid so highly and having to be one of the best (top 2) position players.
freak the contract. Werth should just play like he did in Philly and we'd all be happy. No excuse for this bullcrap. No one is asking him to hit .350 with 40 HRs and 150 RBIs.

I kind of felt like Clemens fell into the slacker category
[edit: among other categories]

outside of rare exceptions (like the Ramirezes Hanley and Manny) no major league player is ever 'dogging' it

So...we're stuck with this Werth, is what you're saying???  Because none of the reasons why he's "pressured" are going to change.

Nope, he'll learn to deal with it, and be fine.  Not $126M fine, maybe not even 2010 fine, but a better-than-avg RF, who is a legit 5 or 6 hitter on a playoff team.

All those throws over to first and then he just lets him run at will.

All because of an 0-2 HBP. woeful

Given his historical performance (whether steroid-fueled or not) it's hard to say that.

B.J. Upton, now there's another player with attitude problems and a history of dogging it.

He's done a horrendous job at holding runners tonight.  Frustrating.

add the Uptons to the list. Tonight, it was Justin.

And when approximately can we expect this?  This season?  Next season???

Another lame walk.

2 outs, bases empty and now a HBP and a walk.

Who knows?  But outside of rare exceptions (like the Ramirezes Hanley and Manny) no major league player is ever 'dogging' it, especially one in a slump, doubly especially one who just signed a massive contract with a lot of concomitant pressue, and trebly especially one like Werth with a well-documented history of hustling and busting his ass.  Werth is doing poorly, that is beyond dispute.  But the reasons for it have nothing to do with a lack of desire or complacency on his part.

Legalese boilerplate for... HE SUCKS!

The little REI rock climbing wall next to the batters eye is pretty amusing, since this is one part of California where people won't spend any more time outside than the time it takes to get from the Lexus in the covered carport to the next air conditioning.
