crappy game, but at least the shootout was somewhat entertaining. Congrats to Chelsea.

That was a hell of a shootout. Chelsea down early. Then made all their shots. Two late saves by cech. Shoot outs are a crappy way to decide a game but chelsea didnt crack under pressure

I love goalies who take PKs.  Chilavert with the Paraguay national team was one of the best.

neuer looked kinda awkward doing it. Maybe that is part of the effectiveness. I liked drogbas too. Quick. I wasn't ready for it. wonder if the goalie was

Euro 2012 is just a couple of weeks away.  England got lucky in Group D.  Group B is surely the toughest: Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal.

Shame that Scotland didn't qualify for Euro '12.  The 1990 WC was kickass for a bunch of reasons, but having England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the ROI all in group play was one of the best parts.  I watched England/Ireland in a geezer pub in Canada full of old farts from, well, England & Ireland, and it was frigging mayhem

did scotland bring their c team or something? the us kicked their ass. it was like a track meet. they few times the ball got in the defensive side they countered at full speed and guys wide open.

the passing was phenomenal. bradley threading balls through holes with perfect touch. donovan was scoring but setting up plays too. he set up the bradley goal with nice chip over two guys that jones did well to to tee up for bradley. they were working nice small combinations and give and gos.

i've never seen the us play like this

i love how klinsmann is unearthing all these half german sons of service members. we are like germany lite

Euro 2012 starts today...Greece/Poland at noon ET, followed by Russia/Czech Republic.  Tomorrow is pretty huge: Holland/Denmark and Germany/Portugal.

I'd like to see Greece get through group play and face Germany...maybe the Greek fans will burn Euros.

He had a crap game...but when he's on, he has eyes on the back of his head.  I'll grant you that he is a bit prancey (and the world's tightest jersey does seem to add to the effect).

De Rossi has been fantastic so far. Pretty impressive considering he's playing a new position. Man, I wish Man City had gotten him back in January. Such a great player.

Balotelli got an early hook.

after lollygagging that breakaway he was bound to get a red card in frustration

Pity the micks got blown out by the only other micro country in the tournament.  Maybe they'll make the Euro finals again in another quarter century.

Damn Ukraine got shafted so far. They had a ball cross the line but John Terry kicked it out and the refs didn't call a goal. It was England-Germany. World cup like.
