A 5th Racing President will be announced at NatsFest. If they already have the costume, JFK would make sense.

          John F. Kennedy?
How about Ike in his full Army regalia.

Zachary Taylor.  He did something once.  I think.  Maybe?

If it's Obama, I will never go to a game again. And no, I don't care if that comment pissed anyone off.

I posted something similar on bookface.

I had intentions of posting a negative view on having it be Kennedy. Still will - He's way too recent, the womanizing crap... well, he was human, but likewise isn't quite far enough away to have his flaws removed and saintly status instated as we view Jefferson etc. with. Plus, the assassination still happened during enough peoples lives that there isn't the distance you have with Lincoln. Kennedy, or even FDR... Only presidents who were president before anyone alive today... Or at least alive and not a century+. Better yet, lets do away with the entire concept. Please...?

That said, now I hope it is Obama. I find it hilarious to think some people will 'never go to a Nats game again! Not ever!' over something so ludicrous as a bunch of dudes wearing ridiculous foam heads who run around for 30 seconds during a damned baseball game. Chicken little much?

As a compromise, they could make it George W. Bush.    Simply declare him the winner everytime and not run the race.

Nah, Bush would have to make up a story that the other presidents were researching WMDs, have Colin Powell testify in front of the crowd, then attack the other Presidents.

Guess people hate Obama more than they love baseball? Good! Stadium is getting a little too crowded anyways.

I kind of like the idea of either Bush.  Putting aside that they are Y , Poppy was a torpedo bomber in WWII, so it is a nod to that generation, and played baseball. There's the great picture of him and Babe Ruth when Joe Wood arranged a visit to school. Poppy is vigorous, too, ran while at the White House. It'd be cool to honor him now, especially after his recovery.

As :w: , the fact that he owned the second Senators after the move has its pluses and minuses, I suppose.  He also kept :w: when he sold the franchise to Hicks, so there is even more of a linkage.  He stays fit, and is personable.  He threw out the first ball at the opening of the Park, so that is another tie to the club.

If it is about a President who has the stature of the Rushmores, then the only easy answer would be FDR, but I can't see having one racer on a scooter.  While there are terrific wheel chair marathoners, a sprint is not appropriate.

Ike is probably the most accomplished inside and outside the White House (Hoover and Carter were more accomplished outside than inside).

Yes. I hate him that much. That being said I wouldn't mind seeing Reagan running around the stadium.

I doubt they go with a living ex-president- not worth the hate from one side or the other- I'm still hoping for obscure (taylor and tyler alternating?)

So would spidernat...

I expect that it will be JFK simply because they already have the costume.  It's a sunk cost.

Inside source says it's a somewhat recent president (but not too clear on timeframe with regards to how recent)

I think the chorus of boos a racing W would receive would be hilarious.

The more I see topics like this the more it seems that Kennedy is the likely candidate.

Even though I'm a McKinley man, that's the way I'm leaning as well Captain.

Let Teddy Win.com

And the twist may be that Teddy Roosevelt will win every single race in 2013, until the playoffs.  But they should each race freely for separate charities.  Each winner gets a donation from the club of $1.

There would be a direct relationship between the volume of those boos and the time remaining in Obama's second term.  The longer Obama serves, the better (OK, less terrible) Bush looks in comparison.

That looks more like Lyle Lovett than Kennedy
