The problem here is, who else would you have used.

Jason Bergmann's skills are limited.  The manager has to know that.

But getting back to my first point, no one else in the bullpen could have been trusted in that situation either.
Bergmann is not a Major League pitcher no matter how you spin it.

When is it safe to use him? In blowouts only?

<NOTLD>It's time to finally rid ourselves of the beachball in the offseason. long overdue. </NOTLD>

Absolute total lack of respect (deservedly).    Werth comes out to take a bow, leading 6-0 against a team that's going to lose 100 games.    REMEMBER and knock his 'roid arse down.

Philly class.

who are these guys? definitely not the Nats i know. Bergmann is always so clutch. we're always smart on the bases. Desmond with a throwing error? that's unlike him, he never makes errors. the Nats are known for good, clean, fundamentally sound baseball.

and continues to fail miserably.

hanger :lmao: :lmao:

bring Bergmann back. he's a beast :whip:
Riggleman didn't.

he is approaching Acta-stupidity believe it or not

:bball: :chief batsignal:

You're an idiot.  Nobody is advocating bringing Bergmann back, claiming he is a beast, or anything else of the like.  You make this crap up in your head and then argue with yourself about it

and :bball: is not the chief batsignal you dumbfreak - I'm the one who created that goddamn icon and added it to the forum, dipcrap

It's not like our bullpen is stacked with more viable options.

I'll be really disappointed in Riggleman if he doesn't at least pretend to give a verbal ass kicking to the team after this game.  They have gone brain dead.

I said that he isn't the worst or even 2nd worst pitcher in the pen, and that he wasn't as bad as you and some others make him out to be.  I never said I wasn't ready to part ways with him.

can we just hurry the freak up and fast forward to next season.  can't wait to hear the excuse from our higher ups as to why we didn't go after major free agents and that our young guys/the current roster in place are going to make a difference.

Not tight now but we will clean out all of the crap in the offseason.

He hasn't done anything in months. At this point I'd rather see Jorge Padilla out there.

The "veteran leaders": RZ, Dunn, Willingham, Guzman, etc are the most to blame.

You can't solely blame it on Bergmann.  Yes, he threw a classic beachball.  But Burnett loaded the bases ahead of Bergmann arriving, and thus he had no room for screwing around.  All the empty bases had been used up.

Burnett is overrated on this board. He chokes a lot in close games.

One of the best in our pen but an average arm in most pens.

Bull.crap.

It wasn't Dunn who got picked off first base tonight.  If anything, Desmond, Maxwell, and Nieves are more culpable than all of those guys, except maybe Guzman.

I'm pretty sure SF just threw RZ's name in there to attempt to throw us off the scent, but it's plain as day he just wanted to hate on his no-fly list.

Re: Burnett: GTFO.  Burnett probably wasn't the one who called for the intentional walk to Howard.

That said, I blame Riggleman more than anyone.  Loads up the bases for the biggest choker.

Hell no. I'm not talking about tonight's game, I am talking about over the last few weeks. Desmond is playing really well. Maxwell is off and on. Nieves is doing his job.

We aren't scoring runs and thus winning games because the heart of the order looks disinterested.
