He's probably throwing his changeup way more than he would if he was "pitching" too. Trying to improve it.

How have we not traded him for RP yet? #fireRizzo

But we could have traded him for Lucas Harrell!!! WTFRIZZO!

Giolito isn't getting enough run on how good he's pitching this year due to his inflated 4 ERA.

K's up, BB and HR down. 1.43 FIP. Stud.

Absolutely.  He's a complete gamer.  ERA, BAA, etc. are so dumb to look at to evaluate minor league pitchers.

agree, better K and HR rates than in single A, and virtually the same BB rate, deserves to be in Harrisburg

Why the rush to get him to AA? He's not coming to the bigs this year so be patient. He's pitched one full season of minor league ball after missing a year with an injury. He's giving up more than a hit per inning, and guys are almost hitting .300 against him. The K and walk numbers do look good and I understand the defense may be poor, but A ball hitters are still putting the ball in play and getting on base. I'm not concerned one bit or trying to say he's struggling. Just that there is no reason to push him to AA now. Give him a month or so in AA this year and start him there next year. If he dominates, promote him a month or two in. But the rush to promote this year doesn't have to happen imo.

I tend to agree with RD on this one and thinking letting him pitch through July in Potomac is not a bad thing.  Maybe the counter argument is that he would have a chance to play in front of Difo and Turner at AA, so maybe there would be an advantage for all three to be together.

It is sometimes hard to remember Giolito isn't even 21 yet.  Command, developing secondary pitches, and stamina are most of what you want to get out of this year.  Physically, he's not going to be ready for a full year of MLB next year.  That's not the target.  If he is a mid-season spot starter like Joe Ross, that would be fine.

He pitched on the 25th.  Pivetta scheduled today.  They have had lots of rainouts.  Keep an eye on their web site.

It's not all luck.  I figured there was a fair chance he'd get the ball.   ;)

I wonder how good this kid is going to have to be for the board not to crucify him?

Forget it. He'd have to be Scherzer.

No no broken up with 1 out in the 9th with Rodriguez on the mound.

7ip, 0 hits, 1bb, 7k for Gio. Not bad at all.

Very impressive.  Looked like from the boz he hit two batters. Or the same batter twice.
