As defined by? There is no statistical data that suggest that Nieves is a superior catcher than Bard.
Riggleman must really hate Mike Morse.
he should have gone on the DL months ago.
you watch the games don't you? you'd seriously rather have Bard over Nieves as a back-up catcher?
Bard = Nieves. They are two halves of a whole. Bard is the Bat, Nieves is the glove. personally I'd rather have neither. I'd rather have someone better than both of them. You act like Nieves is God's Gift to Catching and Bard is the devil incarnate. but then again that's just par for the course for you and your boyfriends.

A couple of advanced stats from BP: Equivalent Average Rate*Bard .231 83Nieves .226 104* 100 = average defensive catcher. So slight edge offensively to Bard, but large advantage to Nieves for defense.
Catcher ERA:Bard: 4.90Nieves: 5.18You also have to remember that Nieves catches Lannan most of the time so he gets a slight advantage for that.
Catchers don't pitch, however.
Nieves is a better hitter and that's not even close either.

Wow Livan has the W arm action that causes a pitcher to blow out his elbow. Go figure
Nice.
The chick in your avatar has the W action that caused me to blow out my elbow
Oh, you stats geeks are all the same. Don't you trust your own eyes?
I predict that Livan goes 4 1/3 in this start and gets battered.then his next start he will go 7 2/3 and give up less than 3 runs.
