Every self-respecting family designates a representative to go to games...if they can't work some graveyard schedule at the bowling ball plant around baseball, the family just supports them.

But then I was viewing the Cubs home schedule. 51 day games. Out of 81. That's just crazy. Even factoring in cooler weather. Yeah, groovy. It's a throwback to old days without lights. Guess what, we have a crazy new thing called electricity. People work. What person who isn't retired or homeless would buy STs?

Although that would be pretty cool. Homeless dude spends several grand a year. Fired by skipping work for Cub games, he begs outside Wrigley for ST money. Forgoing food for baseball.

Coladar if you don't understand day games than you don't understand baseball. Consider revisiting your priorities.

Day baseball is baseball. Catching baseball while it's light out, getting home at a decent hour (sometimes even before the peak Metro fares kick in)...can't beat it (gotta love that government leave).

Not everything sports-related has to happen in praaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhmmm taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhmmmm.

Capital Weather Gang's NatCast has 'Unpleasant heat - wear lightweight clothing and drink plenty of (non-alcoholic) fluids' - temperature 94 at first pitch and 88 by 9th inning, 5% chance of rain.

Theres a reason why attendance has been much higher since MLB started having night games.

I'll be in a Patriotic WaPo Curly W white tee shirt and the traditional Trot Nixonesque blue Boston B hat before the game.  Probably hitting the Porch for a dogfish, then Max's for falafel.  Anyone Lofting it before the game?

I am going solo tonight and tommorow. I'll be at the Red Porch as soon as I can get there although I don't really know what anyone looks like. If you see a guy with a red curly W dry fit shirt, kaki shorts, and a black Jan Sport book bag it is likely me.

One of the reason I wear the absurd Nats/Red Sox gear combo is that it is easy to spot.

I also look a bit like James Taylor, except his hair is longer.  Vega had a nice LEGO of me up on a roof.

I must have missed you JCA unless you were the guy in the Red Sox shirt without a hat with the girl with tatoos.

Why does the Nationals have to make the doubleheader on Saturday so dang COMPLICATED!

 turday, JULY 21

Nationals vs. Braves Split Doubleheader: The team will host the rescheduled June 1 Nationals-Braves game as part of a split doubleheader, with the first game beginning at 1:05 p.m. The second game will begin at approximately 7:05 p.m. with gates opening no earlier than 5:30 p.m., depending on when the first game is completed.

The two games against the Braves on July 21 will require separate admission and all fans must exit the ballpark following the conclusion of the first game. Fans who plan to park in a Nationals parking lot for both games of Saturday’s doubleheader must have a pass for each game in order to remain in the lot for the second game of the doubleheader. All vehicles without a parking pass for the second game of the doubleheader must exit the parking lots within 30 minutes of the end of the first game.

Season Ticket Holders and Mini Plan Holders with game tickets to the postponed June 1 contest may use their original tickets to the 1:05 p.m. game, while Red Carpet Rewards tickets and single game tickets from the postponed June 1 contest will need to be exchanged for equal or lesser value tickets.

For more information on exchanging tickets purchased through nationals.com or the Nationals telephone charge line, please call 888.632.NATS(6287).

NatsLive Post-Game Concert Series Presents The Wallflowers: The second FREE concert of the NatsLive Post-Game Concert Series will feature Los Angeles-based rock band The Wallflowers, following the 7:05 p.m. game. The concert is free with every 7:05 p.m. game ticket.

Fans who want a closer view of the concert will have the opportunity to purchase a field pass for just $20. Passes will be available the day of the game at the Sales kiosk at Center Field Plaza while supplies last.

The Wallflowers will release their sixth studio album this fall on Columbia Records. Known for their hits including “One Headlight,” “6th Avenue Heartache” and “Heroes,” the two-time Grammy Award winning band’s album Bringing Down the Horse has been certified platinum four times since its release.

Christmas in July Toy Drive: The Nationals will host their annual toy drive to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program before gates open for the second game of the split doubleheader. Uniformed U.S. Marines will collect donations of new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages outside of Center Field Gates through the second inning.

Capital Weather Gang's NatCast for tonight has 'A thunderstorm could very well come through but that's not a sure thing. So pretty much a wait-and-see kind of deal' - mid-90's at first pitch, 90 at ninth inning, 50% chance of rain. (Weather.com's hour-by-hour forecast has 50% all through the match, from 19.00-22.00, and at least 30% chance from 16.00 through the rest of the day.)

Thank goodness TBSITH is under shade for about 4 1/2 hours before first pitch at a normal 19.05 weeknight start - as with the previous homestand, it wasn't really all that oppressively hot in that part of the ballpark...now tomorrow however, with its 12.35 first pitch, will be another matter....

Obed - tried to email you this a.m. but you've blocked PMs from me.  Girl with tattoos?  You don't know my generation (normally, here I'd post a youtube of the Who doing Tattoo or My Generation from Live at Leeds).   I was with a friend of mine who has some mobility issues so we were between the Loft and the Scoreboad walk, by the counters near CF.  I thought I saw you twice.  The first time, I went up to a guy and said, "are you obed?" then saw he did not have a nats jersey.  A little later, a bit before the colors were presented, I saw this same guy walking by where I was standing and there was another guy behind him, dressed in a red nats jersey with khaki shorts that was a bit more form fitting.  I thought that might be you, but i did not want to yell, "Obed" towards the same guy because he might have thought I was giving him grief.

Weird. I didn't even know I could block PM's. I think I must have accidently ignored you when using my phone. Sorry about that.

No problem. I suspect I was the one in the tighter shirt. The easiest way to find me would likely be to look for those toe shoes (Vibram FiveFingers).

I'll be back again tonight if anyone is headed to the park and wants to grab a beer in the loft before the game.

I'm in (gotta love that government leaVe!).

---

Capital Weather Gang's NatCast today has 'Fortunately, the game could be over before the thundershowers really fire up, but a brief game delay is not out of the question. Some added clouds take edge off heat but still soupy' with first pitch temperature near 90, low 90's by ninth inning, and 60% chance of rain (they're calling for 70% tonight). Weather.com's hour-by-hour forecast has 10% chance of rain at 12.00 and 13.00, rising to 40% at 14.00, 50% at 15.00 and 16.00 then 60% from 17.00 on through the rest of the day/night.

Not looking too promising for Friday and Saturday either - CWG are calling for 50% chance of rain both days, and weather.com sees 80% for Friday and 30% for Saturday.
