04/13/2006 5:52 PM ETNationals recall outfielder Ryan Church and infielder Brendan Harris from Triple-A New OrleansOutfielder Brandon Watson and catcher Wiki Gonzalez optioned to New OrleansThe Washington Nationals today recalled outfielder Ryan Church and infielder Brendan Harris from Triple-A New Orleans, and optioned outfielder Brandon Watson and catcher Wiki Gonzalez to New Orleans. Vice President/General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcement.Church hit .287 with nine homers and 42 RBI in 102 games (63 starts) for the Nationals last year, finishing seventh in hitting among National League rookies. He also ranked third among NL rookies with a .353 on-base percentage and fourth with a .466 slugging percentage. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter has batted .130 (3-for-23) with a home run and two RBI in seven games with New Orleans in 2006.Harris, 25, has hit .231 (6-for-26) with a homer and four RBI in seven games for New Orleans this year. He batted .376 with a homer and 13 RBI in 22 Arizona Fall League games over the offseason. In 2005, Harris appeared in four games for the Nationals during a stint in May, and collected a career-best 81 RBI over 127 games with New Orleans.Watson appeared in each of the Nationals' first nine games, starting seven times in centerfield and batting .179 (5-for-28) with a walk. Gonzalez appeared in two games (one start), and was 1-for-4 at the plate.
