why the hell is Aaron Cook still in Boston's rotation? Could they make it any easier for Baltimore?

Well, who do you want them to throw out there as the 4th starter, Dice-K?

As if coming out on the short end of a 1-nil no-hitter weren't bad enough...that loss is #81 for the Pirates...the best they can hope for is to salvage .500, and that won't be easy with two more against the Reds and then a three-match series with Atlanta (all home).

Their fans must be feeling absolutely gutted after the hot start...imagine not having a winning season since Bush pere was in office...all the same GO PIRATES since they're playing teams we're battling (for best record in NL and for division title).

Watching the Os and Nats have winning seasons probably doesn't help

Being no-hit by Homer Bailey would have been the last straw for me, if I owned the Pirates.  I would fire everybody, the president, the GM, the manager, the coaches, EVERYBODY.

In the context of another horrible post-All Star collapse, you don't get no-hit by Homer Bailey and expect to keep your job.

Both Dallas Braden and Philip Humber have pitched perfect games and neither have the raw talent of Homer Bailey.

Reread my last sentence.  The firings are contextual.  The fact is they're finishing off another trainwreck of a second half.  In that context, if you're going to get no-hit, it had better be to the second coming of Nolan Ryan.

Homer Bailey ain't the second coming of Nolan Ryan.

...also, getting no-hit in a game where YOUR pitchers only give up one run is just another contextual turd in the punch bowl.

Nope. Came to talk about the A's.

I was just relaying the message everyone else was thinking before I got to my main point.

You << Everyone

...in every conceivable way.

See, an adult would have just come here and said what they wanted to say (about the A's which NO ONE other than you care about because no one else here slurps on Derek Norris) as opposed to the maladjusted junior high school bully you show your self to be with almost everything you post.

Too bad you're not in junior high anymore.

Rangers-Angels rained out yesterday, re-scheduled as doubleheader for today.

Just what a pitching staff needs with the post-season just round the corner....

Orioles and Blue Jays lead with the same score!  5-1

Ironic that they are playing Rivals!  Os playing Redsox and Jays playing Yanks!

The Angels could pull within a game of Oakland if they win tonight (and Oakland loses to Seattle).

The West is really strange right now because the A's are within striking distance of the Rangers, so it might behoove them to pull for the Angels against the Rangers if the A's hold on and win.

I laugh at how some "former" orioles fans kicked the birds when they were down and in the cellar but when they suddenly make a run and are playoff bound it's a love affair with orioles magic.

A lot of people like to root for teams when they're doing well... only the fans root for the team when they suck.

A lot of craziness still to be determined in the AL.  New York, Baltimore, Texas and Oakland could all still end up in the wild card game.

Pity poor Kevin Youkilis.  Last September, his team leads the entire year and then collapses in September.  This year, he gets traded to a team that needs a spark, he helps out, they are in first for over 100 days, then collapses in the last 2 weeks.  On top of that, Israel gets upset by Spain in the WBC qualifier final game after rolling through the bracket, so he can't play for Israel's team in the WBC next spring when the MLB players play.
