Statistically, there's very little difference in injury rate between sliding headfirst vs. feet first.

Most logical.

Unless you're an idiot.

Nook Morgan broke his hand headfirst.

Guzman fail.

I know I know. I think itd be sweet to have a power hitting shortstop though. They're so rare.

I don't think he'll ever get more than 20 bombs.  I'm expecting like 12-15 ... maybe like 18 one or two years.  I think Kobernus could do 15-20.  Espinosa possibly 20-25.

Why? We need to risk him being out for months again? He was stealing feet first for games, how did it finally effect him? I think it's psychological. I just hope this doesn't come back to bite us in the rear end.

He's a better base stealer when he slides head first. He stole 234 bases in the minors without breaking his hand. He just has to be careful like everyone else.

lol @ those who said Desmond should not be the 2-hitter  :lmao:

Carp talking about how Riggleman will have to decide what to do with Desmond, shouldn't Elijah Dukes be the example?  I would be comfortable with Gonzales at 2nd.

Stop it.  I'm no Spock.    :)

Will Carroll did a piece a couple of years ago and found it to be a misconception that head first sliders experience higher injury rates.  Guys can break legs or ankles if sliding feet first.

There aren't exactly a ton of Hanley Ramirez's floating around.

we aren't that far removed from Guzman-Johnson as our 1-2 hitters, what a difference this year.

That's perceived as a problem? I have those disabled.

Is Zimmerman getting treatment in Chicago?  Or is just sitting in the dugout every game?
