Didn't take long for the Wizards to kill any enthusiasm I had. Wall and Beal have been bad, and there's no defense to speak of.

Thank goodness for Ariza or this game isn't close. Nene has been pretty decent, and Gortat really got better as the game went along. Everyone else on the team needs to get their crap together.

Yeah my enthusiasm is basically shot too.

Can't shoot free throws for crap. Defense is absolutely terrible and reminiscent of the mid 2000s Wizards' teams. They constantly make poor switches on picks, can't defend the paint. etc.

Yeah without Ariza's fluke performance they lose this game by 25+.

He's horrible. He should have finished that last play that he got fouled on. And of course he bricked 1 of the free throws.

Turd.

Lost by ten?   I'm callin' bullcrap SF.    I was switching back and forth between this game, the Series and Cavs/Nets.   Almost everytime I checked in, Wall was out of control.   I got the sense he wasn't managing the game very well.    I know he's better than he played last night.    The team didn't play very well.    The refs couldn't do anything that they weren't doing to themselves.

Sounds like the Stones are 1-0 though I check NBA standings about 4x per year.

Still too many rushed shots from Wall/Beal.

...oh well, off to the home opener tomorrow night vs the Sixers, whom some have picked for last place overall in the East...but wait a minute, you say they upset the Miami Heat on the road 114-110, including a 19-nil run??

Fasten your seat-belts and treasure those 25oz cans of Bud available at many Phone Booth concessions...it's going to be another long season....

I think enough jobs are on the line (Ernie and Whitman) that I would expect at least an 8 seed

Only saw bits and pieces of the game but what I saw was ugly.  Detroit has a very good front court and killed us. Not good to get beat up by one of the teams you are competing against for the playoffs. They really need to get the home opener. If not they have games with Miami and Okc coming up soon.

Detroit is a solid team on paper if Billups stays healthy and Josh Smith adjusts to playing SF again.

Likely to be the 6th seed.
Will be interesting to see of Jennings helps or hurts them when he returns.  He can score but needs lots of shots when they should be feeding their bigs.

If he's the uncontrolled chucker that he has been in the past, he'll hurt them.

I thought he quit doing that so much in recent years once he started playing PF full time. (Although I'll admit that it has been a couple of years since I watched the NBA regularly and I didn't like to watch Atlanta even when I did.)

The Pelicans' mascot is disturbing.

They deserve anything that comes their way once they decided on pelicans.

I understand Pelicans for a Lousiana team.    Makes more sense than a Lion, a Tiger or a Ft. Wayne Piston  in Detroit.   :)

But a pelican isn't scary or fearful.  Tigers and Lions have no roots in Detroit sure, but Pistons?  Hell yea Motor City   :)

I'm old.   I remember the Ft. Wayne Pistons   ....   Syracuse Nationals   ....  Cincinnati Royals, etc.
