I think there is a book "redin" thread or something like that.

Can we just rename the thread so it's searchable? I've run into this problem multiple times.

I will but it's not going to help people that can't find it - it comes up in a search for "book thread," "reading thread," and "book reading thread" as the top or second result.

What search terms are everyone typically using?

Probably those. Not sure if something has changed in the search engine, but I've struggled to find it in the past.

Reading Thread works, so... not sure there's an issue anymore.

Normally spellin errers aren't permitted in threat titles but in this case it was intentional as art, so special dispensation granted.

I kinda think I want to defer to the author's craft here, said in my deep moderator's voice.

What thinks the restayou?

I'm reading two WW2 books, one (on Audible) about Ford and WW2 production called The Arsenal of Democracy and one about collaboration and resistance in occupied Europe, called Europe on Trial.

Arsenal of Democracy was pretty good.

Don't remember seeing a thread devoted to books in the years I have followed this forum but we have one for movies, tv, music, and pro wrestling. I figure it can't hurt to have one for the print medium.

The funny thing? Ray Bradbury insists the book isn't about the importance of free speech or a warning about giving government too much power and control in our lives.  It's about the fact that he thinks TV sucks.

For history fans, I recommend "The Quartet" by Joseph J. Ellis. It focuses on Washington, Hamilton, Adams, and Hay after the Revolution and how they shaped the Constitution, the period that author calls the Second American Revolution.

Here's an Amazon link:

Have you ever seen a post in a two-year-old thread with your avi and thought "I don't remember posting that..."

I'm almost finished Summer of 49 by David Halberstam. Many of you baseball fans probably already read it. It's a great read about some of the characters who played for the Yankees and Sox and that years pennant race. Highly recommend it for baseball fans.

I also recently read John Grisham's The Racketeer. As with most of his stuff once I started I couldn't stop and finished it in a few evenings.

So...I was able to buy a new copy of Phill Wood's book entitled Nationals on Parade somewhere online    :

I spoke with him on Saturday and asked if he would sign it for us if I brought it on Sunday...he said sure.

So we got to the Little Red Both after the game and Phil was very accomodating    :

He asked if we wanted it personalized, and I said sure...giving him both my name and my bride's name, and the proper spelling of each.

While he was finishing up, I noticed that he was dating it, and I told him that it was also my birthday.

He continued writing something    :

I took the book back and thanked him, saying goodbye with a warm "Eddie Yost."

When we got home, I opened the book and saw that he had included a birthday greeting:

...for my wife

We got a chuckle out of it...and now have another Nationals story...

Very nice VaRK  ...   Did ya mention WNFF?    :)   If ya did, that's probably what pissed him off and made him do it.

I thought about that...and of telling him my name was Sal...but thought better of both of those ideas...  ;)
