What happened?

8:40: And that's going to be it for Strasburg. He threw a 2-1 changeup to Domonic Brown, winced in pain and shook his hand. The Nationals' training staff, manager Jim Riggleman and pitching coach Steve McCatty ran immediately to the mound. We'll keep you updated as soon as we know something. Craig Stammen is in for the Nationals.

If it's his elbow, could be his ulnar nerve. You feel that in your 2 smallest fingers, tingling, could cause him to shake his hand. That hurts like a nag and just goes away, I had that injury.

Hopefully it's just a precaution!  No matter what, just shut him down the rest of the season.  Zimmermann is ready to come back up anyways.  He will just take Strasburg's spot.  I would have loved to see those 2 in the rotation together this year though.

Of course they were cheering the injury. Philly fans are a-holes.

Patterson and Hill had the ulnar nerve thing going too, right?

There is a very clear sound a crowd makes when clapping for an injured guy exiting the field. That didn't sound like that. To some of the fans' credit, it seemed a mix of people cheering the injury, applauding out of respect, and booing those who may have been cheering the injury. Some of the boos may have been booing that he was leaving early. They can dine with the people who booed Batista when he was announced as the starter.

I've had a problem with my Ulnar Nerve as well. Whenver I throw now my finger tips go numb. You can keep throwing but it's quite noticeable.

Strasburg gets hurt just as Jordan Zimmermann was gonna get called up from Syracuse this comiing week.  Would have loved to see these two pitch in back to back games.  Hope his injury is not real bad but, it didn't look good.

Riggleman just pointed to his wrist area, so I figure that's where the injury is/was.

His mannerisms would seem to be consistent with a pinched nerve or something of that nature, from my googlesearch.

Well, yeah, I'm not a pro pitcher. I put the arm in a sling, took some steroids (legal kind, cortisone), and painkillers. Then PT. The pitching action of those 2 constantly irritated it. Some pitchers have had it successfully moved. Everyone's ulnar nerve is in a different place: through the bone, under, over it. If it's somewhere in the way of the pitching motion, it's trouble. I stretched mine lifting weights, that's the difference. I have my fingers crossed that it's a stretched ulnar nerve. I am not a doctor.

Man, there's part of me that would rather have a guy go through the now routine TJ surgey than chronic nerve issues.

It looked to me, the way Strasburg was shaking his hand, that he may have gotten the "pins and needles" feeling in his hand. Like when a foot or something has fallen asleep.

Wrist is better than Elbow. Even though J Zimm is throwing lights out in AAA. 5 K's, 1 hit, 0runs,  less than 60 pitches last night in Louisville. 95MPH fastball.

I'm gonna will carroll and stick with this story. Has anyone seen a TJ injury happen? Not to be a ghoul, but I figure it would be much more painful than this looked.

Come on Debbie Taylor.  Ride to the hospital with Strasburg and get the news we fans need.

You're confusing Debbie Taylor with a reporter.
