I'm not sure I would go that far. I have always put the onus on the HenDICKS Bros for their bargaining in bad faith. Crow was just a 21 year old kid and you couldn't expect him to fire the agents or tell them what to do. His parents are also culpable as JB called them and tried to reason with them. I just hope the Storen continues to outshine him .

When it started to come down to the wire you would think he would have his agents on speed dial and ask questions constantly. That could have been the single most important day of his life, so yes, I would put the onus on him to know what the hell was going on.

His latest start was an utter gem:

0.2 IP 5 H 5 ER 2 BB 1 K.

His ERA in AA is now 5.68, BAA is .297. He has a 3/4 BB/K ratio. 5.53 K/9...

If he never even makes AAA, that would be wonderful

That guy not signing was the biggest blessing this franchise could have asked for. Instead we have a guy that looks like he might be our closer for a LONG time.

Kevin Goldstein, BP, regarding prospects who have stalled in their development.

Quote
Aaron Crow, RHP, Kansas City Royals
As we approach the signing deadline for 2010 draft picks, here's hoping that Crow serves as a cautionary tale. After not signing with the Washington Nationals in 2008, Crow ended up getting less money from the Royals a year later. The time off, minus a handful of indie-league outings, has clearly affected him. Because Crow began the season as a 23-year-old with no pro experience, the Royals hoped he could handle a Double-A assignment, but instead he put up a 5.66 ERA and was recently sent down to High-A. He might actually be further away from the majors than he was since the impasse with Washington two years ago.

As a side note, Drew Storen will have 135+ service days after this season. He will be a super 2 after 2012.

:lmao:  And he'll be an established closer, while Crow might be an estblished extra on "my name is Earl." :lmao:

Considering that's a show that was canceled a year ago, you know just how hard up he'll be. Two years from now and he'll be asking around where the casting office is for a show that's been off the air for three years. It would fit with the level of intelligence he displayed in negotiating with us. And his line tonight, care of the GMU in the game day thread? Jesus is this kid awful. It's almost so embarrassing you start to feel bad for someone that falls so damn far... If not for the fact he clearly showed he was so egotistical and greedy that he deserves to be knocked down several pegs. Still, 6 ER, 8 total, in his first A demotion start? Wow, he won't be getting any sleep tonight.

Player.               IP   H   R   ER BB SO HR   ERA
Crow (L, 0-1)   6.1   10   8   6   2   4   2   8.53

That may explain why he was so adamant about milking his draft position and pitching potential for every penny he could get. Maybe he knew that's all he would ever get. I can't help but laugh at this.  :lmao:

Wasn't there some concern about his delivery and injuries, too? This guy is just bad news.

you mean we didn't sign him because we thought this would be the outcome? in that case, nice waste of a pick

Except you can go back to the thread about Crow and read that this wasn't the case. I can only remember one person who insisted that this was a case of the Lerners being cheap.

Yep. But there were similar things said about Strasburg's delivery. We even had a thread about it here. Most of that is bullcrap. I bet you can go back and find pitchers back in the days who had long careers who also featured the "inverted w" delivery.

What is funny is that those two situations (Crow/Soriano) have worked out for the Nationals.

he's been demoted to A ball (Wilmington) and plays against Potomac this week per Ben.

Maybe Storen will attend?
