It's far from awful. It means they can get rid of him after two seasons for a very minimal cap hit. And if he plays OK and sticks around for a 3rd season and they backloaded the final year, even better.

Redskins say they want a second rounder for Kirk Cousins. They must not want to part with him or think Jr left town with a hard on for Cousins.

it's good, he's not expensive and it's one less gaping hole to focus on for next year. Now to franchise Orakpo

I suspect they'll ask for a second but take less. You gotta start somewhere.

Really their only hope.

I'd settle for a third. This draft is deep in offensive linemen. There will be quality guys who can start Week 1 in the third round. Cousins could equal a right guard or right tackle. To me, that's worth it.

Yeah... If there's someone we are desperate for, could you see us trading Cousins and our 2nd for one of Cleveland's #1s? I'm not saying that Cleveland wouldn't just laugh in their faces but could you see that being talked about at least? Eh, nevermind. I'll go check on Extremeskins... :poke:

 :mg:

Cousins and the 34th pick are not enough for the 4th pick and Cousins and the 34th pick is too much for the 26th pick.

For a team that didn't play Cousins over a hobbled ineffective QB for 11 weeks on a 3-13 team, the 'skins are expecting an awful lot from someone else for their trash.

The front office is taking on the personality of their fanbase. Washington's fanbase is notorious for this (see Nats fans).

I hear Steelers' fans are like that too.    Maybe the mods should change this thread to "The Washinton football Sunshine Squad thread (2014)".   :)

cousins didn't play well enough to cause a QB controversy (i.e. force a trade), might as well hang on to him for a year unless you get a great offer

Honestly, I don't see any point in keeping Cousins except for the salary cap value. He may be cheaper than bringing in a veteran/journeyman backup.

But this team is in such a need of talent, particularly in the trenches, that it's hard to justify holding on to Cousins and not taking a third rounder or better. Just simply too many holes that, if not filled, will result in Cousins playing too much.

if they can get a third rounder, great, do you really see another team offering that? He was drafted in the fourth and hasn't done much show he should have gone higher, not to mention two of his low cost years have already been burned.

I don't. But if someone wants to offer one, take it and run.

Cleveland cut D'Qwell Jackson for some likely stupid reason. Does Washington need a new ILB?

YES!!!

 but not D'Qwell. He's a solid player but not in a 3-4. We need to get younger and more talented. Now to await Spidey's crap.

Considering London Fletcher's age (38) Jackson (31 going into next season) would be getting younger at the position. I would not mind signing him if the contract was reasonable and for no more than 4 years. However, I think he's looking to get paid so they should pass.

I'm not sure the Skins would be getting better at that position though. Besides, the current move is to push Riley over to Fletcher's position and get a new "Hammer" ILB.

Chris Baker was resigned for 4 years $12 million. That seems pretty steep for him but maybe they are expecting to see better things from him in the future.

There seems to be some interest in D'Qwell Jackson but I don't think he will be cheap plus he wants to go to a place with stability so the prospects aren't good.

Some fool said that if the Redskins can't resign Orakpo they should trade him for a 1st and a 3rd rounder.  :lmao:

I have come around to your stance on this one. I think franchising him would be a good idea.
