Vasquez wasn't going to pitch in the 10th. We needed to prolong the game. We should have been using our best pitchers to get the game into extras. At that point our odds of winning increased dramatically against their pen. By putting in Slaten it didn't even give us a shot.

I won't argue that Slaten is good, but to say it didn't even give us a shot is not supportable.

In his 7 outings since returning from the DL, he'd surrendered runs in 2 of them.  That would seem to indicate that maybe, just maybe, we still would have a shot.
