Randy Johnson dealt to D'backs

It might be worth the Yankees agreeing to eat about $6-7 million of Johnson's 2007 salary simply to get rid of him.

Cashman doesn't half pick 'em...Johnson in NY has only been marginally less of a money-down-the-toilet disaster than Kevin Brown was.

How the hell Cashman has kept his job, well you tell me?! Steinbrenner is such a wussy-cat and a soft touch these days that it's virtually impossible to get fired from that club, as Torre keeps finding out after every post-season choke.

There's another angle to the salary thing.  The players the Yanks are getting, are below market since they are pre-arbitration or free-agency.  Johnson's probably close to above market.  So it would be unfair to the D-Backs to do a straight trade, without a salary adjustment.  I actually like some of Cashman's moves this season.  The Yankees (unfortunately) have been successful in getting some good prospects, to replenesh their gutted farm system.
