This is so deflating.  Why can other teams hit at RFK, but we are hopeless?  I was really thinking that we were going to make up some groudn in this series.  Now we are just left with another night of hoping everybody else loses.

The RFK magic is long gone.  What happened to it?

It's even worse because we are STILL in the fight!  You know if they could just catch fire we could be looking at post season!  ARGHHH!

And we still haven't beaten the reds this season. These are the games we HAVE to win. It's not getting easier with the cards comming to town.

4 hits through 8 innings against Hudson and Shackleford.  Two guys most MLB scouts probably couldn't pick out of a line up.

A grand total 4 balls left the infield in 7 innings against Hudson (Luke, not Tim).

Church is back to his old ways.  Carroll has botched a few key at bats in the last few days.  The beat goes on.

Sorry I'm late fellas, long day at work.  Thanks to Sens2k5  for putting up a gameday thread!

Now I just have one question:  Why are we losing to the Cincinnati Reds?

Carroll didn't call for the hit and run with Vinnie Castilla.

Jamie Carroll shouldn't even have been in the game.  That inning lost this game for us.

I just remember, isn't Blanco a rule 5 draft pick? I guess that explains why is still here, but it dosen't excuse his poor numbers.

What I meant was the he muffed the suicide attempt in Friday nights 1-0 loss to the Mets and then struck out, and then tonight he muffed/missed 2 attempts to move Castilla over with the hit and run.

That doesn't explain it.  He's than worth losing.  His former team wouldn't want him.

Carroll's one of my favorite players...and yeah: he messed up the hit & run.  But no one's perfect...and no one is more upset at himself about it than Jamey Carroll, I can pretty much guarantee you that.

The point is you shouldn't be hitting and running with Vinnie Castilla if Jesus H. Christ was at bat.

Carrasco should have been bunting that at bat and Carroll should have been available to be used later.

This was Frank Robinson's doing.

That would never happen, Frank would pinch hit for Jesus

I agree and I am huge Carroll fan myself, but he did not execute the play.  Whether it was the right call or not, if it is executed properly we might have won Friday and who knows about tonight.

What made the 5th inning so bad was that this Reds pitcher has a 7+ ERA.  You shouldn't have to do anything extraordinary to beat him.

Just play it out straight and he would have self destructed.  Instead, we gave him easy outs.  So the pressure never built on him.
