The Nationals were not pleased that Williams lost his temper on the mound and told the media that he lost confidence after giving up four runs in five innings during a 6-4 loss to the Braves on Tuesday night. In the middle of the game, manager Manny Acta took Williams to the side and told him not to show his anger after making a mistake. Both Acta and pitching coach Randy St. Claire said that Williams used a poor choice of words when he said that he lost confidence. Williams, according to St. Claire, should have said he is trying too hard to show that he belongs in the big leagues and perform the way he did with the Giants in 2003, his rookie season.

Obermueller had his contract selected Saturday night from Triple-A Albuquerque. He was 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts. Obermueller, who was in Spring Training with the Marlins, has logged 18 1/3 innings in the Minors this year, and he last pitched five days ago, giving up one run in seven innings in a no-decision against Iowa. Obermueller last pitched in the Majors for Milwaukee in 2005. The 30-year-old is 9-19 with a 5.65 ERA in his career.
