You might not think that, but we don't really know.  That's why FieldFX is going to be so great--we'll actually be able to analyze the effect that different fielding configurations have on the game, instead of just speculating about it.

I thought FieldFX was going to be restricted to front offices.

We don't know that yet.  They might also do what I think they're doing with HitFX, which is delay the release of the information by a few years.  So we might start getting FieldFX data from three or four years back three or four years after it becomes widespread.

The Rockies have a 2B rate of about 5% this year, and a 1B rate of about 17%. The odds, then, of them hitting two singles straight are about 3%. Thus, a double is more likely.
And two consecutive singles will often move a runner to 3rd, vs. a double that leaves the runner at 2nd.
