Maya has a major league deal. If we are lucky he'll be a 6 year fixture.

I hope one of the concession stands adds a Cuban Pork Sandwich in his honor! Yum!

Yeah they had one last year at Taste of the Majors that was pretty excellent.

It would be great, we need more depht then that at pitching ( applies to the Nats and even minors). Pitching is really an issue but with Stras, Zimmy, Maya and some other guys it looks ok. I'm not a fan of Olsen, Stammen, Detwiler though.

Last year I took a picture of Strasburg St.

This year, here's a link to the COLES District of PW County!   ;)

It's on the Nationals MLB website.

That's not actually what it says, the headline is misleading.

A last-minute problem has surfaced between the Nationals and right-hander A.J. Cole, which means the two parties may not be doing a deal, according to a baseball source. It's not known what the problem is.

Let's just say nothing is official yet.

No it doesn't.

It says that Ladson is being a lap dog. Did you read the article? Nowhere did it say the deal was off.

Baseball America reported its a done deal. Until they say otherwise, don't worry about it.

Just food for thought.  This is a paragraph from ESPN in an article about Harper, actually:

Quote
On Thursday, Baseball America's Jim Callis reported that the Texas Rangers  have agreed to terms with University of Miami recruit Luke Jackson for $1.557 million -- more than double the recommended bonus of $764,000 for the 45th slot in the draft. Even though Jackson traveled to Texas for a physical exam this week, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels quickly denied that a deal was in place.

The article has a straight forward headline, but it's not really misleading. According to Ladson's source, there is no deal. Meaning, the 'previous' deal reported by BA, is nixed.

I don't know Ladson's history, but until it's proven he's signed, Im not counting him just yet.

Ladson is a clueless putz who isn't remotely reliable.  That's his history.

Big fastball, good frame, secondary stuff isn't consistent and there were definite questions about his mound makeup. If he matures as a person, he's got a chance to be at/near the top of a rotation.

I was hoping he and Ray would get some action in Hagerstown this year. Guess they are waiting to send them to Short-season ball.

I think they're limiting their innings and don't want them to pitch in the cold yet. So there's still a possibility you could see them both in Hagerstown this year. I like the way they're handling Cole and Ray better than how they rushed McGeary and Smoker in their first full seasons.

I think the Short Season team should have a fun rotation.

Cole
Ray
Solis (?) - If he gets healthy
Estevez - If he over matches GCL play/Maybe they skip GCL altogether?

Solis should be pitching in Hagerstown/Potomac. He's more polished than pitching against 18 year olds in Short-season ball.

I would hope we would see Brandon King in Auburn's rotation. He only pitched 11.1 IP last year for the GCL Nats and only 30.1 IP the year before for the GCL. Still really young though (20) and has a good arm.

It would also be nice if Nate Karns who also has a big arm would make a debut in Auburn after not pitching last year after getting drafted. I have heard nothing on him.

Tyler Hanks is also someone I would keep my eye on. Played with Harper in college.

This.  Harris mentioned earlier this year that both would stay down in Florida for a while so they could control their innings.  Both should be at Hagerstown, which has a pretty thin rotation right now, some time in May most likely.
