I say limit them now so they can both get a couple starts in September.

Looked up Cole. He threw 133 innings last year. I gotta assume that the limit this year is around 160 to 175 innings.

He really needs to start limiting home runs before he's called up.

For all the crap that Rizzo is taking right now, turning Morse into Cole/Kroll/Treinen was as lopsided as any trade i've seen in the last few years.  Everyone should trade with Seattle as often as they can (Bedard for Jones, )

Yeah, that turned out much better than expected. Heck, did anybody really think Ian Krol was going to be a better MLBer than Michael Morse this year?

More like this: Gio was traded for Cole, Norris, Milone and Peacock.  Morse was originally traded for Langerhans.  Morse than traded for Cole, Krol, Treinen.  Essentially, the Nats trade Ryan Langerhans, Milone, Norris and Peacock for Gio, Krol and Treinen.

if he keeps pitching like this he'll get a call when Jordan is done.

Walks aren't really an issue with Cole; home runs are, and he didn't give any up, which makes it a great start for him. Can't wait to see him with the Nats! I hope he's ready at some point next season.

Maybe. They definitely need to get him some innings.

SF - More likely the call up would be Karns if it is a rotation piece.  Cole's not on the 40 man roster. If Cole needs to be added this winter, then I could see adding him and calling him up in September to get him extra innings and exposure.  Figure he ends AA with ~150 innings at the end of August.

The other way to play it, and maybe more likely, is to send him to the AFL.

Yea I think the AFL makes more sense. We could have two rotation spots open next spring. G

Actually, the guys we got came from Oakland. They got John Jaso from Seattle in that deal. So it is more like Rizzo managed to fleece Billy Beane.

Consider it part 2 of the Gio deal? Rizzo's revenge for the Willingham for HRod/Brown deal?

His parents sat behind me at a PNats game in Myrtle Beach earlier this year.  They said although struggling a at time he was happy to be back in Nats organization.  Btw, Taylor Jordan pitched that game.  Never thought he might be up in the bigs just a short while later.

This article explains some adjustments the pitching coach at Harrisburg has helped him with: http://www.pennlive.com/senators/index.ssf/2013/08/senators_fall_out_of_first_aj.html

The actual adjustment is a trade secret, but whatever it is, it's paying dividends. 2 earned runs in three starts and his season ERA has dropped from 4+ to the mid 3's. If he keeps this newfound dominance up (and learns to limit home runs), he could be competing to be the 5th starter at spring training.

This is a really good development. The Morse trade looking like an absolute freaking steal.

Rizzo doesn't seem to be the best at trading for need, but he seems to be great at getting away with absolute steals when he does trade
